jonnyjon88
Anyone on here make and sell these frame latch buttons, slightly oversized?
Bridgeport28A1
A few USGI frame latch buttons are larger than others. Likely not a lot of help, but if you get to a show where a seller has multiple latches ask permission to measure some. If you know the size you need you could email member Phil Askew and see if has one in the size you need. philfordparts@yahoo.com

jim c 351
johnny, If you live near a gunsmith with a small lathe, he could make one out of drill rod in a few minutes. Jimc
jonnyjon88
Jim, I appreciate the advice. Believe it or not, I don’t think there is a “real” gunsmith within 70 miles of my location (near Baton Rouge).. only the ones that mount scopes or replace broken parts.. maybe I should add that to my list of equipment to pick up though, as i am sure it would come in handy on more than one occasion! Max's Gun Repair/White Feather Shooting Range, Leesville, LA has a lathe & mill and a couple of guys that know how to use them. Come out and shoot, get a part like that made. Full auto welcome. Closed Wed & Sun. Pistol range !00 yds. Rifle range 700 yds. Both ranges have covered firing lines. 337-238-9140. I know it's a bit further to travel, but if you can, they'll help you out. Just sayin'.
jonnyjon88
Thank you Chief, I just may have to take a ride over there
Bridgeport28A1
The shooting opportunity would be appealing. I do have to ask what you would expect a gunsmith to charge to make a frame latch button from drill rod? A friend with a lathe making one probably would be the best. I measured frame latch buttons with permission at a TATA show and acquired several above average sized buttons for future use, so they are out there. jonnyjon88
Yes i agree.. the size i need is around 0.303”, i reached out to Phil and unfortunately the largest size he has is 0.292” +/-.. i would expect to pay $20-$40 to have one made i guess, i really have no idea what that is worth

At Max's they charge labor at around $80/hr. A half hour's work plus a little material...$40-50 maybe? Want me to inquire?
jonnyjon88
Guys, I appreciate the suggestions.. I found a guy with a lathe not too far from the house, and he made one for me. The fit is nice and tight again. Thanks!
