dalbert
I’m back in my longtime former home of Austin, Texas for a few days, and decided to visit the Bullock Texas History Museum, which is just a short walk from the Texas State Capitol. My favorite exhibits were the Austin City Limits recap, the Republican of Texas section, and this display about a Texas LEO which included his Winchester Model 1907 Rifle. God Bless Texas. HANS
Very cool! Do you have other suggestions for places to visit between Waco and San Antonio? I'll be there this spring and would hate to miss out places of interest (museums, shooting ranges, historic sites). I'll be at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame, of course, and am also thinking of the Drive Tanks! range at Uvalde ... Many thanks! Cheers HANS

A close friend of mine saw Dave recently. We shot together on his point at the 1991 Hill Country Machine Gun Shoot. I still have the t-shirt. I bet he still has his Vickers MG's he bought from the late Rob Key at Just Guns. It was a whirlwind few days, so didn't have much time for extracurricular activities besides the museum trip on Saturday afternoon, though did drive out to the Salt Lick for dinner Monday night. Had Dan's breakfast tacos Monday and Tuesday mornings...yum! Also had the best Reuben sandwich ever at Scholz Beer Garden. I left Austin in 2006. When our pilot told us we were on descent into Austin, I thought we sure were starting to descend early, because that's Dallas outside. I soon realized it was indeed Austin, which has maybe 15 new high rise buildings taller than Frost Bank. I feel like I lived in Austin during the "right time," 1985-2006. I barely recognize it now, and there are apartment buildings everywhere. The house I sold in 2006 for $285K sold again last year for $935K. Yikes!
