J.Ryan.T
Hello all, Could someone provide guidance on installing a replacement extractor for an MP40? My original one is worn out and now just sits loose in the bolt groove. I’ve purchased an original German part, but it seems that I need to hammer “not tap” it in forcefully at the pin hole, which doesn’t feel or seem right. Is it common for these extractors to require slight shaving or adjustment to fit properly in the pin hole? Any advice would be appreciated! First photo is old extractor, second is new one not wanting to go in, third is empty bolt Thanks Edited February 17, 2025 by J.Ryan.T Added photos
TSMGguy
Photos not showing up for me, but you're right, the new extractor should be a slight interference fit in the bolt. It should be easy to seat using a brass or plastic hammer, but then not back out under use.
Rekraps
Agree, may take some force to get it in but that's good as the friction will hold the part securely. I have several and some are a bit tighter than others....
