Robert Henley
I went to do an online FOIA request, and the Department of Justice is not showing in the drop-down Agency box and BATF does not show in the Component box. Anyone else tried lately or anyone know what's going on with this service? Thanks, Robert
fifthmdec
There is a new format. The ATF FOIA Public Access Link. Create an account and go from there.

Robert Henley
Thanks, I got the new ATF FOIA Public Access set-up and submitted a request. However, when I go to Request Status it doesn't show up. My old requests that were carried over from the older online system are there but not the one I just submitted. Hopefully, it will show up soon. I'll check it periodically, but I guess if it doesn't show up I'll have to submit it again.

Archmark
I submitted a FOIA request about a year ago to the ATF for information on my M1A1. I received a denial of my request maybe 3 months later saying that since providing me with any information on the TSMG would compromise "sensitive tax information" (the numerous $200 tax stamps & information on the Form 4 transfers), they could not tell me anything about the history of my Thompson. Filing a FOIA was a dry hole for me...

I've made requests in the past for a number of NFA firearms, including my Model 1928 Thompson, and always gotten back redacted forms allowing me to see the history of registration, transfers, etc. (but redacted of personal information).
