Gold1927a1
I need serious help here... When installing the barrel into my kahr the barrel doesn't want to spin in straight.. the threads are screwed.. I'll admit that when spinning on the first thread or two the barrel didn't have enough grip and with the leverage and heavy tools it just ripped the barrel straight out the receiver... Is there a tap I can use to correct this? I'm already a ton of money in on this, gun is on a form 1 and bought Conner's removal tool (which broke the heavily red loctite barrel loose with ease leaving no marks). deerslayer
Receiver threads can be undersize to some barrels fit. If there is still receiver threads left, I would clean out the bad stuff, make the barrel threads major and minor a little undersize and screw it back in. What tool would this require? Or take to machine shop? Or just send to you?
deerslayer
Remaining threads in barrel look good for what I described above. There isn't the pressure in this barrel like in a bolt action Hi power rifle. You will be fine.
Gold1927a1
Comparing old and new barrel threads they seem to be identical. I'm wondering if since the threads are so thick toward the end and there seem to be plenty left inside the receiver if I can just continue on and the larger threads will correct the barrel as it is tightened? Never to be removed ever again..

Gold1927a1
Well I sent the gun off to Dan and he fixed the issue. He also reamed the chamber to smg spec and the stock shortened by an inch. Thanks again, Dan!

Gold1927a1
It's the only obtainable Thompson for most of us. To be fair I haven't had a single malfunction with the gun in over 500 rounds and I don't think Kahr really expects too many barrels to be swapped when considering the service life of a .45 barrel. Just took it out and it ran like a top.

deerslayer
They use a rotory tool instead of a broach. For a while they made a very undersize cut the required extractors with the corners ground off. The cut is bigger now. But their extractors are now poorly made and fitted.
