LB181
Hey everyone I’m new to the site, there is a ton of great information here. I have a magazine question, it’s not the typical mag catch/GI issue that’s often discussed: I bought a West Hurley NY Thompson, it’s the WW2 version, semi automatic, that unfortunately didn’t come with any magazines. I tried my son’s magazine from a new auto ordnance tommy gun, and it doesn’t seem to fit on the rail of the Mag well which got me worried. The magazine rail on my gun is rectangular shaped, while his appears to have a beveled/rounded edge. Aside from the issue of the mag catch/round hole vs. elongated mods, is my gun meant to fire GI magazines, or am I supposed to find some proprietary magazine? Thanks for any help you can provide. TennesseeTimmy
I would suggest posting a picture of your rail and maybe the magazine you are trying. Timmy

LB181
I don’t have access to my sons newer gun/magazine, this is the magazine well or rail I was referring to. I ordered some GI magazines, so hopefully they’ll function fine with the mag catch mod.

LB181
Thanks for the information Deerslayer. As you stated, the Gi mags fit the magazine slot a lot better. Locke in tight… Probably my next issue is working on the magazine feed lips, they are a bit squished like you said, causing the second round to hang up on the feed ramp. Can’t wait to get this thing running.
Outsider
There is a guy on the full auto board who makes a tool for the mag feed lips. I have one and they work great.
