reconbob
A couple of photos. These are American Forces in Burma. Did they bring their own Thompsons? Or they are using British Thompsons? Baptist Mission Compound at Maymyo. Photo by Clare Booth Luce copyright 1942 by Time, Inc. General Stillwell cleaning his tommy-gun (sic) after disembarking from the rafts used on the Uyu River. Notice the buttstock oiler on the board next to him.
gijive
reconbob, My father was a bodyguard for General Stilwell during the Burma campaign in 1944. The U.S. Army supplied the Thompsons that they had. Merrill’s Marauder’s seemed to have more of the newer M1/M1A1 Thompsons from photographic evidence. I have added a couple of photos showing Stilwell's party during a shelling in the jungle. Dara Singh, another bodyguard has a 1928A1 Thompson. My father is all the way in the back with the helmet on.
