About as good as the "Leg" lamp in Chevy Chase movie.... "A Christmas Story"

Chase was not in "A Christmas Story". A much better actor by the name of Darren McGavin played the dad enamored with the leg lamp.

A Garrigue 1/2 scale 1921, 1928 and M1a1 miniature Thompson lamp. It's not mine but it was up for sale a few years ago.

As usual, I was wrong. :)

But the lamp was there, right?

Like Full Auto 45, I have a Tommygun bottle of vodka......but no Brodie helmet.

I do like the idea though.

Saw a piece of trench art many years ago at a gun show, the Brodie helmet stop a brass artillery shell casing.

The casing had some imbellishment hammered into the sides, scenes if soldiers in a trench and was dated WWI, but forget the location or date.

Must have taken the soldier many hours tap-tapoing the design into the brass. Always wondered if he maybe used mess kit utensils and a bayonet as a hammer.

That means I would have to drink the bottle I have. That would take me a while to drink that much Vodka and tequila.

Mike,

I know you can do this, or perhaps you could get some help Saturday night after the show.

Years ago, when I was collecting AKs, I saw a pretty good sized wooden chest with a bottle of vodka shaped like an AK-47 in it. It was pretty detailed, I remember that. It also came with a bottle shaped like a hand grenade filled with a dark vodka, I guess to finish you off if the AK vodka did not!

Richard, that is it! I have looked for that chest for more than a few years, no luck.  I did find a bottle of vodka in a glass bottle shaped like an AK, but it was smaller, and just did not have the wow factor of the chest. Good for you sir!

I am curious of the origin/ history of the Tommy gun bottles. Does anyone know who made them and when?

My Google searches have found that the most common is the clear glass, containing Tommy Gun Vodka. Also available, but not as common are green glass containing whiskey, and red glass with tequila. They all still available at prices ranging from $35-$90. I have absolutely no idea if they are still being made, or are just still available. Empty bottles can be found on fleabay, in all three colors, with price tags that would make one think that the bottles weren't empty.

Thanks Karl.

Looked on line they all look slightly different from the one I found. Screw tops, rather than smooth top for a cork and writing in the glass, mine does not have any.

Guess there has been a few versions made over the years.

Invite a few friends around, if they are anything like mine, I'm sure they would make short work of it.

I picked up 3 of these years ago from a good friend who owned a liquor store in Houston, Texas. Kept one Vodka and one Tequila. Gave Gordon the other Vodka. Not too many around as they were not popular with the liquor stores. Very fragile and many were destroyed in shipment. The Vodka came from Poland. The Tequila from Mexico. Never have seen the whiskey variety. All varieties were imported for Alphonse Capone Enterprises, Chicago, IL.
