.22 conversion kit?

Recommended Posts

I just saw it, looks nice, I'm definitely interested.  I couldn't find anything on his website, if indeed I was on the right one.

Update, Subgun24 has just put the kits up for sale, $1500 with 3 mags.  From the videos it looks like the real deal, and I'm considering one.  No affiliation, etc.  but his video shows it ran flawlessly on a comp. course.  Looks very well made and for his investment in time and manufacturing the price isn't bad.

no, this kit is specifically for the 76, and most clones, some talk about a kit for the K but nothing yet.  I plan to order one Monday.

I ordered a kit with the grey magazines. This thing should be a hoot!

As did I, with extra black mags.  Can't wait!

I'd love to send feedback, if the post office will ever deliver my kit!  Tracking said Thursday, then Friday, now it seems to have gone backwards so who knows.  I hate the USPS, their tracking is worthless and their service is worse.

I received my kit today. It was very easy to install except that for my particular gun, I had to carefully stone the trunnion cap key to fit properly into the 9mm extractor slot. The kit didn't want to run Remington Golden bullets, but ran well with Remington Thunderbolts. About 200 Thunderbolts later, the bore was leaded up pretty badly. After cleaning the lead out, I ran a mag of Aguila copper plated Super Extra thru it with no leading issue. This is a well made and welcome addition for the S&W 76 platform and I think it's well worth the money. It comes with a mag loader, an Allen wrench for the trunnion screw and a set of very explicit instructions. I think that anyone owning a 76 should consider this kit if you're interested in shooting a new caliber for your gun.

I received mine yesterday too, haven't had a chance to try it, but will do the assembly and mag loading procedures today in anticipation of maybe getting out Thursday to give it a try.  Quality looks excellent, as was stated the instructions are VERY explicit and complete.  And Todd offers a money back guarantee, how can you lose?

I've just had time for a brief test in my basement,  runs great. May have to buy more ammo, I've only got 50,000 rounds or so.

Be careful with the Remington gold ammo. I have a 22 Thompson conversion and it damaged my extractor when it went off out of battery. The guy who made the kit said never use that ammo in it. I only run the federal hollow points now in the Thompson and my 1917 browning. The golden bullets seem to be ok for semi but the full auto is different. I will be getting one of these conversions it looks awesome!

I'm a bit surprised there's not more discussion of this kit on here.  Much more on UziTalk and Sturm it seems.  Todd has done our industry a great service by bringing this out and his customer service is top notch.  HE has other items as well, and as his business grows I have no doubt he will offer more parts, and is open to suggestions of what is needed.  Along with Austin (Navgunner) we are seeing an influx of good replacement parts that have been needed for some time, and we need to patronize them to keep the pipeline open.  I have no interest in either business, just grateful they exist and plan to do my part to keep them open.  The 22 conversion kit is great fun, I always like to shoot full auto 22 in any configuration (I had a Lakeside Machine LM-7 for a number of years and it was a hoot shooting 200 round belts, my only other conversion is the Atchison (sp) M16  conversion which is still fun.  We may look back on this time as a golden era of CIII shooting (I may be getting carried away here) but 3D printing is a game-changer and coupled with excellent machine work can be a great boon for us.  Scott, haven't heard from you  on this subject, what about it?

For those not following UziTalk, Todd is working on a threaded .22 barrel for his conversion kit, 1/2X28.  I'm all in, can't wait for them to come out.  The .22 conversion kit is too cool!

I bought one of Todd's kits and installed it in my S&W 76. After a short break-in the kit ran flawlessly with Remington Golden .22's. The kit is a real hoot to shoot..the cyclic rate is just right. Buy extra mags...it is a lot of fun! Highly recommend! Sorry no pictures; I went to the range alone.

I just confirmed with Todd that he's about to release the first batch of threaded barrels for the 22 conversion.  Better get on the list. His redesigned McFadden loader adapter is on his website now, works better than the original.  We're once again in the "good ole days" of class 3 with these new suppliers of parts for our guns, enjoy!

Thanksgiving after noon I took four of my grandsons plus their Dads out shooting, and they all got quality time on the M76 with the .22 conversion kit.  Everyone loved it and it ran great, except one bout of FTF that I can't fully explain.  I thought it was the mag but then determined it was the bolt lagging behind, and was going to remove it for cleaning when it started shooting flawlessly again.  Just a glitch that I can't explain other than all MG;s experience some of these things once in a while.  Even my trusty Swedish K had some FTF's,,most likely from bad ammo.  They loved the 76 in .22 caliber, and firing into a pond produced the most laughter.   Video of my 10 yr old grandson attached.  He also shot his Dad's AK and AR but his preference was definitely my M76.
