Arthur Fliegenheimer
What would be the motive of a buyer, formerly in good standing, to nullify these auctions resulting in 7 "F" feedbacks for failure to pay? https://www.gunbroker.com/a/feedback/profile/1670267
StrangeRanger
Dormant account was probably hacked by a troll. There are a LOT of mischief-makers trying to disrupt both GB and Armslist
Arthur Fliegenheimer
Dormant? The buyer was completing purchases as recently as April. The "mischief" might actually be a vendetta by the actual account holder.

tricky9914
There have been many phishing scam problems on Gunbroker. In fact, Gunbroker has begun to implement two-factor authentication because of it. For those that don't know the scam, essentially, an email is sent to the seller appearing to be from Gunbroker, alerting the account owner of an unauthorized password change or any other type of attack on their account. They then provide a link to "log in" to their account to correct the issue. The link directs the person to a fake login page, appearing to be on Gunbroker, but it is not. Once the victim attempts to log in, they have actually provided the scammer with their login and password, which the scammer uses to access their account immediately and lock out the real account owner. Once in, they will either list valuable items with low prices, trying to entice a bidder to win and pay for the item (a Gunbroker account with lots of A+ ratings is a perfect target as it gets the bidders trust), or they will bid on expensive items and attempt to purchase them with stolen credit cards etc... Arthur Fliegenheimer
That type of scam doesn't seem to be applicable in this case as the registered buyer is placing an astronomical high bid to ensure they win the firearm auctions. All the sellers require FFL or FFL-03 license before completing the sale. No way to get around that for a a scammer. Where is the profit motive? The sellers are inconvenienced for having to relist the items with a notice that item is reposted due to non paying winner. If the purpose was shill bidding this might make sense even though the objective isn't to wind up becoming the winning bidder. When a Gunbroker Top 10 Seller lists consignment firearms at $1 with no reserve there may be some unscrupulous behavior by the actual owner of the consigned firearm not satisfied with how the bidding is going and bids it up. Rekraps
Sad as unknown forces are spoiling things for everyone. I highly suspect (no evidence at all here) that elements that may be strongly anti-gun are behind this effort to muddle up the system.
