MP34 Slideshow Video

Recommended Posts

I made a slideshow video showing how I built my MP34 using one of the kits sold by Apex a couple of months ago.  I have a Type 07 SOT.

I milled a receiver section, turned a barrel, made the bolt tail assembly, and repaired a broken ejector with an Allen wrench.  Finished with rust blue.

I think of it as the European version of the Thompson.  Made with craftsmanship, expensive to manufacture, blued steel and walnut, and beautiful to look at!

I really enjoyed building this one.

Thanks.  I really enjoy bringing old submachine guns and machine guns back to life.  And, it's not just about making a machine gun run reliably.  I try to make them look as factory correct as possible.  Which even includes factory markings at times.

I've only shot the MP34 in semi auto and sighted it in at 25 yards.  The front sight is almost dead center.   Using a boresight laser during the build really helps to get it straight.  I've shot approximately 100 rounds in semi automatic and function is flawless.

I may get a chance to shoot it next week to take some full auto video, but I've got a lot of work in the shop currently building vz. 58 rifles.  On my property, I shoot semi auto only to keep a low profile.  I shoot full auto at another location and that's a bit of a drive.  I'll post the shooting video in this thread when I can.

Those kits were nice, and we worked with the importer to get a variance from the ATF for that demil.
The work you did was just incredible, a lot of talent being displayed in that slide show!
Gun looks as good as it did leaving the factory, even the wood stock.

Finally had the chance to shoot the MP34. Very cool subgun!

I shot a total of 300 rounds and it cycled flawlessly, but the magazine catch would release the magazine at times while shooting in full auto.  Not a problem in semi auto.

Magazine and magazine catch are good and it ended up being a weak magazine catch spring. I replaced it with another spring and it has twice the tension. Good to go now.

Unfortunately I think that is all of the MP34 kits that we will see for a very long time.
We purchased all that were offered, and they have all sold.
