anjong-ni
Supposedly, if the shoe-eyelets are at all cracked, it's not real. They knew how to perfectly crimp shoe-eyelets by the 1930s... Phil

Planejack
Thank you to all who responded. I purchase this from “Autoweapons.com”. I’ve sent them a message indicating that several trusted individuals have responded the same as all of you. I will give them a chance to allow a return and refund. ppgcowboy
Autoweapons from the word go are nothing but scheisters. Who ever you talk to there are so high on themselves. They treated me like an idiot just for asking questions.
anjong-ni
I got this old thing from a Forum member. Real dark and dirty. About wore out. Rivits are not really perfect but pretty good. Phil

LDog2012
It looks to me like the weave on the originals is much tighter. The repros have a coarse texture and rough edges.
RKALSKI
I have the second and third one in that picture. L to R The original is much tighter weave on the cloth and is a very mustardy yellow. The fittings are all bright blued with no makers marks. The repro I purchased is like #3 in the pic. Very loose weave on the webbing and it's also thicker. The metal fittings have a few flaws in the rivets (splits). The metal itself is brassy colored with a darkened finish that has been lacquered. I'd almost say they tried to weather the fittings. The original is on the Kahr semi SBR (thanks Deerslayer) and the repro is on the FA blank only Philadelphia gun. Autoweapons.com has been around for years and have never been anything but scumbags. I remember contacting them once about a Thompson they had for sale in the early 2000s. I noticed the majority of the Thompson's they had Iooked like they'd been refinished to make them look brand new. I asked was the gun refinished. The guy wouldn't give me a straight answer, he gave me this long diatribe that made no sense and completely avoided the question. Rude, mouthy, arrogant, and dishonest is the best way to describe them. Here's a press release from DOJ about them. https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndin/pr/pennsylvania-firearms-dealer-sentenced-100-months-imprisonment Edited November 8, 2025 by SP Sarge
Planejack
Wow, so that explains why these people there have been so terrible to deal with. I hope everyone is paying attention to this thread….BEWARE of doing any business with these folks, regardless of what you’re interested in purchasing.
