How rare are these Sterling mags and value?

Recommended Posts

Hey Tal35, the sterling mags are, as you know, the best SMG mags ever engineered. The double roller followers make these magazines perform perfectly 100% of the time. And... they are unique to the Sterling.

As to the rarity and value, I can tell you this (as I own a DLO/Andrewski gun) as I have a nice stash. Although not difficult to fine, as they are not in much demand, the going price seems to be between $175 and $225 each if they are in nice condition. I have several still in new wrapping paper and eight or ten opened. I take care of them and they all look almost new. You can check GB for current pricing.

Getting the magazines is one thing, finding the OEM magazine pouches is another. A few years back I got lucky and found three brand new ones, and yes, they are specific to the Sterling.

Great post and good to hear from you.

These are NOT regular mags, they are trials mags, if you look in the sterling book, they have No welded seams in the back they are wrapped, pre-patchet mags.

Why didn't you say so from the start? I don't believe they'd have any intrinsic value beyond GI issue mags as the Sterlings are not really collectible guns in the sense that TSMG, M3's, MP40's and the like are.

Nope.  Those are British military issue Sterling magazines.  Noy really rare, but less common in the US than the export version made from spot-welded sections.  They were made in two halves, linear welds along the front and rear.  Usually done so well that the body looks like it was an extruded tube!

Left side should be stamped "Magazine 9mm L1A2".

When Apex had boxes of Sterling mags at KCR, I did my best to snag the British military ones!

The ones I have, all NOS or almost new are very well constructed to your point above.
