2nd M96: HP990027xx Recce Carbine

I owned one of the first M96 Expeditionary Rifle way way back, bought through an FFL who placed an ad in Soldier of Fortune? announcing the M96 rebirth of the Stoner 63.  Like many (most?) others the potential for the belt feed kit was the selling point.

That first HP99 Rifle i did some Stonerizing, I replaced the safety lever with a Stoner 63 Selector; I bought an original Mk23 stock window from Jerry Tarble, used black dyed Brownells AccuGlas to insert it in the M96 hollow stock as well as molded sling swivel bosses top and bottom.  And, I had sent an original 63 birdcage flash Suppressor to Kurt at KKF (RIP) for him to make copies for the M96 Community.

Belt feed kit got c@ck-blocked by Armstech, life and relationships took over i ended up selling it off.

Moved to FL in 2018.  Collecting dust in a small town gun/pawn shop was this HP990027xx Recon Carbine, "less than 200 rds fired!", collecting dust.  It had been in the shadows collecting dust so long the tagged price was by then a bargain! And he still had the box & manual for it.

I found a short picatinny rail and AKM Underfolder Stock Adapter complete with Hungarian AKMS Stock for it on GB.

Along the way I ended up with some S63 and M96 rear sight base flats to be completed.
