Jsearl23
Interested in determining the value of 2 drums. Any info would be appreciated.
LDog2012
My best guess based on what I've seen trade recently is $650 (give or take) for the United Specialties drum (U marked), and $150 for the reproduction drum.
TSMG28
The United Specialties drum is 5th generation, and the other is a West Hurley L drum. Many of the West Hurley drums were out-of-spec and/or unreliable. That said, some worked fine. If you can prove it works, it may improve it’s value. I agree with Ldog’s valuation, though the WH will probably have the fewest buyers.
Jsearl23
Thank you both for the information. What is the best way to advertise the drums for sale?
LDog2012
You can list here, but must first have permission from David Albert (dalbert@sturmgewehr.com). Also Gunbroker.com is a very active market place. List under Thompson, NFA. Take good, clear pictures of both sides, inside with cover off, and close up of markings on both sides. According to the Topic ' Forum Sales', to list on the forum, you also need to be at least a RKI Member: "If you wish to post an item for sale, you must be at least listed be a “RKI Member.” You may also post items for sale if you are listed as a “Long Time RKI Member,” “Respected Member,” “Technical Expert,” “Industry Expert,” or if you are a Board Moderator". Dpedersen
List on https://www.sturmgewehr.com. It is a sister site to here also run by David. Great place to list that gets lots of traffic. It’s specifically for selling and buying. Go there! I would list these in either the part and accessories or the collectors boards.
