tomk
I will ask a question to possibly help make my point. You just sourced Swedish K parts kits to build your semi auto project. How many Swedish non-select fire kits were you offered? In my 20+ years of owning a K, my experience has been that there are now MANY more Swedish select fire kits than in the past when the majority of kits were Port Said. It was rare to find an actual Swedish non-select fire kit. Prior to importation of the select-fire kits, parts kits were much harder to find. The flood of select-fire kits was a wonderful relief when they showed up. Parts were everywhere, and cheap. So... when I had my K redone, I opted for the most prolific parts source available. I have multiple parts kits stashed since they were cheap and plentiful. Luckily, the Swedish K rarely needs parts so I have probably 3 lifetimes (or more) worth of spares. I have NEVER had to replace a part on my K. Yes, it gets shot. I'm making a note of that just to agree that spare parts are likely not a long-term concern for owning and shooting. Regardless, I sleep well knowing that I have "spares" covered. I do also like the looks of the select-fire gun. Personal preference. I like chocolate ice cream. Lots of flavors out there for different tastes. Do I shoot it in single? No. I test fired it extensively when I first got it back to verify function, but I don't use the selector when shooting. I had the "standard" configuration for something like 15 years before I had the gun re-done. My gun is a "formed" Pearl gun. They were supposedly made the same way as the original K's are made where the metal receiver is bent / formed as one piece into shape (versus welding a separate tube on a lower like the Wilson and other guns). Since you mentioned it, I also like the looks of the 3-rd burst picto lower on the MP-5. If you want to get really snazzy, then you might also like the 2-rd burst lower. S-E-F just looks boring when there are the ambi pictogram lowers available... I wish that I had kept an MP-5 of the numerous ones that I sold off - especially the pre-sample guns- but oh well. Family and business needs create priorities. Life goes on. Each to his own. Get what you like and have fun. Life is short.
Got Uzi
I have several non select fire K and Port Said kits on the shelf also, but the fire control system is what I need out of these kits. Other than that I don’t care which kit type I use.
