inspectorudy Posted March 5 Report Share Posted March 5 I bought some new ball ammo today and tried to cycle a few rounds through my unfired M1 it to see if it would work smoothly. I could only get the first round to chamber and then all after that jammed. I tried it several times with the same results. Has anyone else had this issue? What could I check? The first round ejects very well but the next round will not chamber and goes cross ways in the chamber area. I see no feed ramp of any kind and don't exactly understand what guides the next round into battery. Any ideas? Rudy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Are you saying you're trying to hand cycle ammo through your M1 or are you having the problem after the first round is actually fired? If you are trying to hand cycle live ammo the problem may be inertia. You cannot force the bolt into battery fast enough to properly strip and chamber a fresh round. Thompson barrels do not have a traditional feed ramp and rely on the speed and mass of the bolt to chamber rounds. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

inspectorudy Posted July 12 Author Report Share Posted July 12 It actually loads the first round into the chamber ok but if I try to cycle the bolt to eject the unspent round the next round and the ejected round interfere with each other. On my M1A, I can cycle through all the rounds in the mag without any issues. Same with my AK-47. Is this just a peculiarity of the gun? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
