Major youtubers are posting these and I even spotted optics planet advertising frt's in the comment sections. What an interesting time to be alive. I have to admit, it seems that the very agencies created to protect the public from organized crime have been used to ruin the lives of innocent citizens for a very long time. The full auto crowd was a rather small and quiet group, now with these things growing in popularity it's shining a bright light on rapid fire guns. With the huge increase of fully automatic,(or similar functioning guns) I'm just waiting to see how long before some bone head uses one for criminal purposes. While I understand the physics of the FRT, and that the weapon is still operating in semi auto mode the FRT is as close as it comes. Previous systems such as bump stocks and binary triggers were in my opinion gimmicks that were nothing I would want installed in one of my weapons. The AR that I fired had no cosmetic effects that made it look and different than an M16A1. While it was cool to fire, like the previously mentioned full auto mimics I would not install one in any of my weapons as the potential for them becoming restricted is pretty likely. Again, just my opinion. While currently legal in my state, as a deputy sheriff I was dispatched to more than one "machine gun" complaint where the weapon being used was just a normal semi auto ... People will hear the gunfire and call law enforcement. Just not worth the hassle to me. Of course I'm in my 70's kind of too tired to argue the legality of a FRT with a LEO. All of this hand-wringing over FRTs is a bit of Chicken Little mentality, and even a touch of fuddery. A bump stock was used in the Las Vegas mass shooting and they were still considered semi-auto. The Courts have ruled that the FRT (or at least the Rare Breed FRT) is still a semi-auto. Both fail to meet the statutory definition of a machine gun. And if we’re worried that FRTs might shine a light on, or expose our “dirty little secret” of machine gun ownership: the internet already has. Moreover, the notion of sacrificing FRTs to protect our machine guns is just as fuddish as sacrificing those black plastic rifles to protect our shotguns and deer rifles. I What about potential upsides to the growing proliferation of FRTs? Maybe…just maybe they might even crack open 922(o) to a viable legal challenge? jojeep Posted April 4 Report Share Posted April 4 (edited) I remember years ago at Pennsylvania Gun Shows the Vendors that sold books had a soft cover book on modifying the Semi Auto Thompson Firing Pin. Extra material would be welded on to the Firing Pin and Ground Down. The Safety Switch would be place between Safe and Fire. I will post photo of the Books Cover, ironically it is available through Amazon. Since this guy is selling a Modified Firing Pin for $275.ooo will the ATF be knocking on his door looking to see the Trigger Part of this FRT ??
