trenchcollector
Im new to the Swedish K. I have 2 Wilson Tubes and Port Said kits. I would like to find a Swedish kit for one of the tube builds. Would it be worth sourcing a Swedish kit or should I just build them both with the Port Said kits? If so, does anyone know where I might find a Swedish kit? Thanks. BillinBama
They pop up on gunbroker from time to time, as well as on Storm. Put a WTB ad on the various forums and you will likely get a response. Be prepared to pay from $1500-2000 for a complete parts kit.
Got Uzi
Most tube guns are built with Port Said kits. I just got in 8 m/45D kits for my semi auto builds. PM me and maybe we can work something out.
tomk
I would avoid the Port Said lower with the Arabic stampings. The Port Said lowers I had come through looked to be saw cut in the horizontal right where a tube would weld to them. They always seemed like the easiest lowers to use for any kind of K build. That said, I'm personally not a fan of the Arabic stampings some have on them. I sold off a bunch of kits after I had my K converted to the "D" select-fire variant. Most parts that I ran across prior to importation of the "D" variant Swedish kits were Egyptian. Seeing the larger numbers of "D" kits that were imported was a factor in my decision to convert my gun to that variation. I bought a number of "D" kits for spares. The "D" kits were everywhere and cheap for a while and then, poof, they became scarce. Pretty cool to have a couple of virgin tubes. I'm jealous. If you want to have some variety you could likely work with Philadelphia Ordnance to get a new-made spec lower. You could piece a gun together with various parts versus needing a kit. I would opt for the retaining lug rear cap and my preference would be to get crown-marked parts for the builds. Maybe do one as select fire and one "classic" build. Note that the correct "D" build had a riveted magwell. That's why it seems that none of the imported "D" kits come with the removable magwell clip - they were riveted in place... Since my "D" variant is a tube gun I use the removable magwell to run drums and coffin mags if desired. As far as "keeping it original" - also note that the drums do not properly seat in place on real factory guns. You would have to very slightly file away some tube at the top of where the drum seats for it to lock into place. This modification was not uncommon in even some tube guns. I would not do it to a factory gun (including pre-sample guns). I had to do it 20+ years ago when I first got my Pearl gun. Cool projects. Good luck! NE Patriot
TrenchC, Looks like you're aware of the scarcity of complete kits now. You can assemble your own kit by getting various single parts, but it's a challenge if you are a more of a collector than a shooter, and want "all Arabic" or "all Swede" and no reproduction parts.
