Wilson tube gun on Sturm

Recommended Posts

Wow. This gun is not that well refurbished. The trigger is painted! None of the rivets are blued and the color seems off.. Not an Andrewski job for sure. Can't tell if L or MB or Pearl.

For $38.5K a few more pics and description of the gun would be nice.

Looks like an “L” model

Not all the rivets were blued either. Triggers were but most the original guns I’ve see have been a mixed bag of blued or painted. I don’t think it’s safe to say one way or the other is the “correct” way.

I have never seen triggers painted. They are part of the internal parts of the gun and of course those are not painted. I suspect if triggers are painted, they are done post mfg.

Both of my Model A guns (gray) had painted triggers that matched the exterior finish. These were original guns also

Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t make it the gospel…..

My “Wilson” Port Said gun is nearly identical to that one and it was an Andrewski build…painted rivets and all. The trigger is also painted green. I was considering sending it back to him to get reworked but it runs flawlessly and not sure if having parkerized rivets installed would ad much more value to the gun or not as I’m considering selling it now given the current market.

You’d think he could post pics with the gun right side up and show the SN.

No indication if the gun is a “L” or “MB” series which in this case matters as the paint job is indicative of an early build (note rivets and trigger are painted) so if it’s an “MB” gun there may be some function and alignment issues.  At the same time the welds are smooth and appear to be well done, leading me to think this is an “L” series early Andrewski build.  If so, the gun is good to go.

Pricing for this gun seems fair. Personally I’d send it back to Andrewski and have him redo the finish to reflect bluing and paint.

My two cents!
