historyguy1944
Hello all, Random question, what's the difference between the slotted and non slotted grips? Was it a Manufacture or time frame thing? Or both? Ive been trying to research it, but haven't determined anything. Thanks in advance The left is unmarked and doesnt have a slit, the right is marked with a slit. BillyDixon
under war time manufacturing conditions the elimination of the slot saved time, no fixture needed, no cutter needed , it was just go go get stuff out the door, just sayn
Frank I.
The one with a slot was originally for a 1928 Model, modified with the "step" at the back to fit the M1 and M1A1 models. The grips originally made for an M1-M1A1 do not have a slot. The modified grips are somewhat common.
Motorcar
Left one is also what all of the Kahr semi auto ones use. The finger side of the profile is slightly different too.
TSMGguy
Somewhere I picked up the idea that slab sided grips were always reproductions or grips from later semi-auto guns. True?
deerslayer
There is a little variation in grip shape and slab sidedness. Usually a maker mark on all gi stuff.
