Sturm Scammer - M45 Coffin Magazines

Recommended Posts

BOLO - Scammer using Philip John name (obviously stolen) is trying to peddle Suomi Coffin Magazines and pouch. He "only" accepts Paypal/Venmo, huge warning sign. Refused to accept a personal check

Be smart you guys, what I do is only agree to send a check (allow them to keep it as long as they wish) to an address on the DL that they provide as part of the sale. If they hesitate, run.

Same for GB.... credit card or personal check only unless buying through a retail shop or known dealer. NO paypal, venmo or zelle.

Rekraps,

A check will get you their bank and account no. but does it give any protection beyond that?

I agree on venmo and zelle, but you should get some level of protection is your use paypal as a purchase, and pay the fee.

Earlier this month I get a bum deal on the purchase of a Lahti. After delivery and field strip, I see a mark on the slide.  I say it's a crack, seller says it's a machining cut.

And to make matters even more suspicious, he sent me a follow email asking me to make a partial PayPal payment, then he'd send the three coffin mags and pouch, and then I could pay him later! Really? Plus, the grammar in his notes is highly suspicious.

Bad grammar or English grammar instead of Amer. usage is a sign of third world fraudsters.

But...I'm sure there's caches of K goods out there, maybe in Egypt, Ireland?

Hard to believe some of our Forum friends don't have any coffin mags....

There is a scammer here that goes by the name tommydummy4 (aka Dana Richard) who messaged me about a part kit I was looking for. The account is still active here even after reporting it. The driver’s license they sent a photo of is fake (as verified by a TSA-LE friend). The address on the DL (looked it up on the local County Assessor’s website) comes back as being owned by an older couple and the name on the DL (Dana Richard) associated with the address is actually a 40-year old female, not a 57 year old male, as verified by Facebook and other verification websites.  The individual uses some sort of electronic voice disguiser or something while speaking on the phone…very weird.  I have photos pulled off the internet of her and what appears to be her boyfriend as well as with the older couple whom the house is registered to. The entire thing is very wierd. I was almost scammed out of $5200…good thing I did some investigation first.  Anyway, just beware of who you’re dealing with!

tommydummy4 had posted here recently!  They post responses and such probably to build up “credibility”.

I stopped using PayPal because of several reports of them being anti-gun and refusing to help anyone with a gun-related payment problem. Seems they prohibit use of the service for even gun parts.

Husker, was this guy out of Florida? There was a well known crook on the Subguns and Sturm pages a while back. His name is Dana Reed.

No, out of South Carolina but could be the same scammer. The strange thing is there is actually a Dana Richard (40 y/o female) associated with the address listed on the DL they sent me, but it was quite obvious to me the DL was fabricated, which led me to do a bit of research before sending a money order. I wonder if they have a way of intercepting the mail going to that address?

JJL, yes PPal is anti-gun.  They've threatened to suspend my account.  In addition to them, Apple and Google both removed gun related apps (ex. gunbroker).

Husker402, a work around is to file a change of address w the post office.  That will direct your mail to your new address.   The criminal might be taking advantage of this.

Be careful using PAY PAL! If you try to file a loss or claim for anything gun-related they will not pay and they will permanently freeze your account and seize any money in it.   (I know)

Pay Pal also does word searches on gun sites to freeze accounts, that is why you will sometimes see sellers type Pay Pal as P**P**

BTW a Dana Reed from the Pittsburgh, PA area was/is a well-known scammer for years.

Frank, they can seize your funds?!  That's robbery.  Sometime I've got a grand or more in there.  I'll stop that.  It's bad enough they discriminate against gun activity, but taking your money is a bridge too far.

Never leave any money in a Pay Pal account!

When I complained about the seizure, they sent me a copy of the agreement I signed when I joined and told me to read it.

Apparently, they will hold you liable for violating their policies, and by signing, you agree to it.

I hate the way gun owners are treated by CC companies, banks and PayPal.

Legal gun owners have passed a background check, NFA owners undergo even more scrutiny.
