It’s finally happening. 1st a bill to remove the NFA Tax on MG and today a bill dropped to repeal the Hughes backed by GOA.  Needs to happen cause with FRT/FRS being available on so many platforms including Thompsons now, what the point of this ban.

This is nothing more than playing to the crowd as it has no chance of going anywhere. Be further ahead to work on making a CCW work nation wide as that one could actually get traction.

So if it passes (and it won't) and post-samples become transferable what happens?

The states that have MG bans will keep them in place

Some states that currently rely on the Feds and do not currently have MG bans will look at the potential influx of MGs and enact state bans

How is this a net win?

I don’t know. I’m being told by my Rep this bill has got alot of backing behind it and support. Things are changing. We will ultimately see I guess.

Does it have enough support to pass and be implemented? I highly doubt it at this point. I can’t see 200+ reps and 60+ senators signing off on this.

It’s a nice idea, but with all the other issues facing this country, passing a bill so everyone can have an M16 in the corner is kinda low on the priority list….i think people are more concerned about the cost of living and the economy not collapsing under the national debt, but that’s just one persons take on it.

Now that all being said-it would be fun to watch all the “these are my investments” crowd loss their ass on MG conversions and tube guns, you know, the guns that aren’t original examples, but aftermarket “production” guns.

How many MG owners are there?

How many soccer moms who think MGs should be banned are there?

Politicians first priority is getting re-elected.  They do a head count and vote accordingly

I don’t care what a repeal of 922(o) what do to my transferrables’ values. I’m more than willing to trade a massive valuation decline for adding more MGs to the stable, be they “original examples [or] ‘aftermarket production’ guns” but 922(o) won’t be repealed. Monkeys will fly out of my butt before Congress reopens the registry.

This hit the local (Pensacola) news here 2 days ago. He's my local representative. It's gaining traction, but we'll see.

Cross your fingers & knock on wood. LOL

I don't see how more MGs become legal unless there is a supreme court decision against the NFA or there is another amnesty period. Too many people don't understand MGs and they think that they are 'wonder weapons' that can hit a hundred targets in 3 seconds. Just like in most movies and TV shows.

If Congress gets it passed you can skip the court system all together

Exactly!
If they can’t pass national reciprocity, opening the NFA registry or doing away with it is merely a fundraising gimmick.

Key Republicans who would likely be influential on H.R. 9009

  • Jim Jordan (OH) – Committee Chairman. If leadership wants the bill to move, Jordan is one of the biggest gatekeepers.
  • Andy Biggs (AZ) – Chairs the Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee, which handles federal criminal law issues and is one of the most pro–Second Amendment members of Congress.
  • Thomas Massie (KY) – Longtime supporter of reducing federal firearms restrictions and often a leading voice on gun-rights legislation. He sits on Judiciary and the Constitution Subcommittee.
  • Chip Roy (TX) – Chairs the Constitution and Limited Government Subcommittee and has been supportive of expansive Second Amendment interpretations.
  • Troy Nehls (TX) – Judiciary member and Crime Subcommittee member.
  • Lance Gooden (TX) – Judiciary member from Texas.
  • Brandon Gill (TX) – New Judiciary member from Texas and part of the committee’s conservative wing.

Yes I’m aware of that but let’s hope this reaches the judiciary committee which they are still apart of before Nov. they are all set to resume this week.
