gfaegenburg
First off, forgive me if this post is in the wrong place, but I couldn't find a topic that fit the bill so Im starting here. Hoping to run across an FFL with a Clas 2 SOT who has experience with doing a Full Auto AR-10 DPMS rifle. A final function test has exposed a problem preventing a recycle of the gun when safety selector is in FUll Auto position. I buy my trigger components from Aegis Cerakote and Gunworks in Wisconsin. What is happenning is on the recharge cycle, the bottom of the Bolt Carrier hangs on the top of the auto sear paddle, preventing the BCG from completing its rearward movement. I have a call in to the owner at Aegis. HIs initial text said the Bolt Carrier needs to be modified! Yeah, if you have your own machine shop! The BCG's I have are rated for Full Auto fire. But with no Mil-Spec out there in the AR-10 world, I am kinda outta luck. Sure would have been nice if he said something about this because I discussed my projects with him long before the builds occurred, so he knew I was going this way. Milling the Bolt Carrier down seems like a really bad idea to me. It's obvious its thickness in the area where it is hanging is more than the rear end which actually trips the top handle of the auto sear. Anyone know if you can mill the needed space of that sear handle thereby keeping the integrity of the Bolt Carrier? ANy ideas or suggestions are welcome. I've been doing AR-15 conversions for years and was wanting to do an AR-10 for a long time but could not source the trigger group components. Not happy I spent a ton of money on these guns not knowing this was going to rear it's head. Thanks in advance!
