Hawkeye_Joe
Found on a Photobucket site of a guy at possibly a Military School. Caption says it's a "CIA Modified Thompson" http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Hawkeye/Silencedtommy.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Hawkeye/Silencedtommy2.jpg
giantpanda4
Doug Richardson's suppressor book shows a design of something similar, but he uses a vertical foregrip. I would be smiling like that too if I could own one! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
GonePostal
That gun was shown on this site in an old posting by someone that saw it being shot at an exhibition at IIRC West Point. I think the sign on the left in the pic below proves that point and while I can't remember exactly what was discussed and who posted it, I seem to remember that the one shown on the line that day was not actually suppressed but rather had an empty "shroud" around the barrel. Perhaps at one time it was full of something and suppressed the sound. http://www.gone-postal.org/thompson_with_shroud_resized.jpg This original post was were I got the idea for the "evil" suppressed barrel for my WH Thompson (also shown below). http://www.gone-postal.org/EvilThompson_resized.jpg Anyway, thought I'd contribute what I could remember. full auto 45
GonePostal, didn't you or someone have a video of a suppressed Thompson firing? I am still kicking around on having a suppressor made for my Thompson barrel. One that would thread on there the compesator is.
Sgt
If you want to install something like this on your registered Thompson, do you have to do the forms and pay the tax, or is this covered by the fact that it is already an NFA gun? GonePostal
Sgt: Any suppressor requires the additional tax payment for the stamp here in the states. In the case of this setup I put together, I used a can that I had already and adapted it for use on the Thompson. Because I can remove it and it's not modified I can still use it on the Mac-10 it was intended for. Mike: Email sent with the video attached. I had to take it off my svr because of the huge spike in bandwidth. Gone Postal Edited January 9, 2005 by GonePostal
Hawkeye_Joe
I thought that I'd seen that Tommy before. Strange that they would let a Cadet take a bunch of weapons to his room. The website I got it from shows him handling numerous weapons. http://community.webshots.com/album/96280214FIfNLA
Sgt
Hawkeye-- If you look closely in the first photo, there appears to be a copy machine in the left background, a mailbox on the shelf, and a three hole punch on his desk. I would guess this to be an office and not his personal room.

GonePostal
My setup is based on a quick change barrel that was threaded back to where it meets the receiver and has the bbl stub protruding slightly into the blast chamber of the suppressor. It's also ported on section that goes into the suppressor to allow for more effective gas bleed into the chamber ahead of the first blast baffle / expansion chamber. We did this one right and it's nice and quiet, open bolt slapping away considered. Takes about 2-3 minutes to swap the bbl out for a standard one.
