Atf Question

Recommended Posts

OK guys a little help here. I happened to read sarge's post regarding his questioning his examiner after waiting 5 months for his approval on form 4. I am approaching 90 days on my approval. How do I find out who my examiner is? I don't intend to wait 5 months without some prodding from me. I know that the answer to this question is probably in the archives, but there are many questions that will not open ( Page cannot be displayed error). Thanks for your help.

I think this is what you wanted.

You can also call NFA branch and politely ask who is handling your transfer. From what I have read on some of the other boards, if it is over 90 days you might discuss the progress with your examiner. It seem like it might be taking up to 120 days for some of the recent transfers.

As I've pointed out before, I called after 60 days only to find out my paperwork had presumably been returned. My examiner, Barbara Franklin actually returned my voice mail in a matter of 15 minutes. Luck of the draw maybe but it doesn't hurt to call and I wouldn't wait too long to make that first inquiry. It got the process moving for me.

My latest transfer was also handled by Barbara Franklin. I did check with her at just over 90 days and the fingerprints were "still out". http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif She was very helpful and asked me to give it two weeks more and call back. She said that if the finger prints weren't back by then she would try to track them down and see if she could move it along. Just about 10 days later, I get an email from the dealer in TX saying that the paperwork is in hand and the gun is ready to ship! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif The gun will be shipped to me tomorrow so perhaps I'll se it by the weekend. Pictures will follow. I'll assume that the finger prints were not back when I called and she really did follow up and get things off top dead center. So far I've got a very positive view of Barbara Franklin -- she did return my calls and did appear to act on my request for assistance.

This is in stark contract to the examiner (Kenela Tate) handling my wife's transfer. She was told today that 120 days is not excessive and that finger prints are just slow right now. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif There is only one problem with this excuse; I turned my stuff in a month after my wife turned hers in. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif Go figure. Needless to say the wife is pissed off that my gun is on the way and hers is stuck in NFA branch limbo! Now the wife has her dealer involved in calling the examiner and so perhaps with the both of them calling Ms Tate will get the clue that they aren't going to get slow rolled. So far Ms Tate gets a big UNSAT from us. At some point soon patience will wear thin and she’ll call the congressman and complain.

In my earlier thread I mistakenly indicated the name of the supervisor as the examiner. Barbara was actually my examiner. I had the identical scenario as BT3, the fingerprint cards are delayed, supervisor goes to check on them, then they come through in about a week.

Incidentally, Sheena Savage was the supervisor, yet the chart listed in this link shows someone else listed for my last name. I guess they need to update their information, so the best thing is to call and kindly request your examiner's name.
