There is nothing like the grin you see on someones face after their first time....!

By the way, if you moved about 10 feet to the right, that pickup would make an excellent brass catcher!

John Jr

Did you use the Thompson to touch off the Tannerite?

I have a case of the stuff, but am a little leery to try it at the local range. I fear that they would most likely give me my walking papers.

From what I've heard you can't touch Tannerite off with a low speed round like a .45. And are those horses off to the left in the deep background or cows?? That's shooting a little too close to the livestock, too easy for .45's to ricochet.....And next time get a good brass catcher.. a Ford.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Yep, that is what FORD TRUCKS are for, hauling tons of junk,Brass etc. Unlike the wimpy CARS like CHEVY makes! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

I just got rid of my Fucking Old Rebuilt Dodge (FORD) and bought a GMC instead. That ford I had was the one that would blow up on you (2001 supercrew) and it got 11MPG, brakes squeaked, needed an oil change every 3000 miles and all that. That will be the last ford I ever own (except for possibly a MG target)

And since John forgot to tell you . . . I set off the tannerite with a Rem. LTR in .308 Win. You are correct--a high velocity round is required to make it go boom. We also threw one in the river that runs alongside the range thinking maybe we could have a fish fry that evening after the shoot. It exploded but there were zero casualities.

I love living in West Texas with 10 1/2 million acres of BLM land just to the west. Things go boom, and nobody hears or cares. Things sneak across the border, and nobody notices. I find old fired .30 Govt. cases out there, and I wonder if my grandfather fired them while chasing Pancho Villa. But when your Ford breaks down, you're walking for a l-o-n-g time!

Pity the newbie. He now has an expensive hobby!

Another GTO fan! I had 3 of them when I was a kid, 65 ragtop, 67 ragtop and 69 Warwick blue Ram Air IV Judge. I found a beautiful 1965 4spd tri-power conv in 1990. Sold nice 1921AC to buy the car. Wish I had kept it a bit longer. Now into

military jeeps. Have nice uncut original M151A1 and 2 M38a1's. Probably should have kept the 21AC considering current values.
