Sportsman's Guide Drums!

Recommended Posts

I have periodically been checking SG's ads on the drums they've "offered" for sale. The ad would be there one week and gone the next. A few weeks later the ad reappears. I'm surmising they are replacing orders that people have cancelled or are adjusting for the total they plan on getting.

Kinda surprised they haven't raised the price since they obviouly have no problem selling out of their aledged supply. Time will tell.

I picked up a ex. condition Seymore L drum for $450 the other day so maybe SG's claim to have drums are affecting the overall prices on sure things.

O' Sayeth the Great Swamee if not in 3 then its not to be....

Granted they might just keep on edging out a month at a time in hopes the ship will be able to unload them and clear custom's or they will bag it. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

It could be either way with the ad being pulled-

Either they didn't need it anymore as the total expected shipment is spoken for -in which case it seems they haven't needed it for 3 months now http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

or

They just aren't coming in at all- http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/banghead.gif

With my luck its the latter and for those of you who have good luck with these sorts of things you have my humble apologies for ordering one and messing you up. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

I stopped by the Sportsman's Guide today and asked about the drums. The guy behind the desk looked them up on the computer and said "end of this month" which is nothing new. I'm expecting another rollback on the date.

He also said that they had 300 drums on back order and that all 300 were "sold" to folks like us who are waiting. Has anyone tried ordering one lately? The dude at SG made it sound like there were no additional drums to be sold besides the ones already ordered.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the first 300 coming in soon.

I have a feeling that since I am involved they won't come in but that is just my luck-

The upside for those on the back order list that believe that hope springs eternal is for what one might pay for 3 of the SG drums we could have 2 of the soon to be built (yea right) Kahr C drums with dinero left over to fill them up. Downside of this is the C's aren't built to MErle's standard and we are back where we started 100 days ago

Was anyone from Ohio any to order a Drum?

I tried to order a few 20 round magazines and they said that they could not ship them to Ohio, whatever http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

NotDeaf,

I am unaware of anyone from Ohio being successful

in ordering drums. It's the- anything larger than .22 long rifle having a magazine capacity more than 30 rds, is considered a machine gun- part of the law that they are basing their policy on. Your 20rd mags should be OK.

I was also advised by them that Ohio was a state they won't sell/ship ammo to. Haven't tried that yet and have quit doing business with them. I'd try the 20 rd mag order again on the phone and see what they say. Good Luck

Dood!!! Call up and cancel your order so I can get my drums! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cop.gif Think of it as taking one for the Gipper...... Heck I'd do it for you......... Here I thought it was ATF or something holding things up and it was you the whole time.....

This is the email I received yesterday from Sportsman's Guide. Back order is better than canceled, I guess. Hope you all have a good News Years.

Thank you for the E-mail.

It is on back order with an approximate ship date of 02/28/06.

Backorder dates are tentative and may change if the vendor fills the order before the expected date or is unable to fill the order on the expected date.

Ok I admit it- I didn't take one for the team and thus we be having a little delay.

Maybe this is a message from the Thompson Gods that we should wait for the Kahr C drums adn they are making it palatable with Merle in the kitchen.

Is that optimism or what????

Ok I am going back to sleep now.

I agree it certainly can go on for a long while but again we have nothing to lose waiting, didn't have them before the offer was made so we are none the worse off all things considered.

With these email alerts they send out it makes be feel compelled to contact them and make SURE they don't drop me off the back order status we are all on. Means more telephone traffic for them to handle and increases risk of a screw up as one board member already commented on in getting his quantity wrong.

I got the email from them today, with a different order number, that said to reply if I wanted to be kept on the waiting list (which I did). This identified my order as being for 4 drums.

So it seems I'm in their system two different way; once for 4 drums and once for 2. if I actually get six I won't complain http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
