tcgoll
I was recently at a gun show and saw what was called an 80% tube. It had all of the parts cut out but left in with small tabs. It was for a Mk III and the table next to it had parts kits. It seemed to me that a funtioning gun could be put together within hours. It may have been a sting, but I thought the promoters of the show should have asked then to either remove them as they have asked others to remove items that were either boarderline elegal or offensive. Just my $.02.
hawksnest
:agree: They are just asking for trouble. It is called constructive possession. What fools.
anticus
Sounds reckless- the show organizers were asleep at the switch if they didn't question this. ! If the tubes had blocking rails permanently installed to prevent the insertion of full auto bolt, maybe. But it sounds like a "punch out the tabs and instant felony" product to me. Whiskey Brother
Or just yet another example of the fine Law Enforcement work of the ATF-Troop. Why any one would fall for that is just a case of not knowing how entrapment and their history are... (That and just plain laziness, I mean, come on! It's just a chain link fence post for pitys sake! If you really are that stupid and that lazy, well then you deserve the unwelcome attention of those boys. They love that kind of stuff, no violence involved, they can throw their weight around, and they can get an easy 10 year conviction on some poor smuck with no criminal record, no real danger of violence, but an unhealthy case of having a hobby of firearms instead of golf clubs. Plus they get to kick the guys dog and maybe push his wife around.... )

The Lone Ranger
Just when was the last documented case of someone being charged and convicted of having such? I am currently sifting through hundreds of dispositions and have yet to find a 10 year sentence or even a no prior record conviction. The majority are no pros, dismissed after indictment, or probation when charges stuck. The vast majority of suspects have prior arrest or conviction history. I am only looking at a fraction of total cases, but me thinks the internet may have inflated the results a bit over the years. Weasel
A few years ago, San Francisco PD confiscated a pallet of sten gun parts, almost completed tubes, and silencer parts for the stens. The report I received was that the silencers were mostly complete and easy to finish. The whole thing was turned over to ATF who did not want to prosecute due to being busy with 9-11?? SFPD didn't want to file so the items were kept and destroyed. One never knows what will happen. I know that it will not go to trial if they have a weak case.
