Target Stores?

Fw: Target Stores >Date: Fri, 5 Dec 2003 23:11:51 -0800 (PST)

By Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association

Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans

Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received the following reply from the local

TARGET management: "Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts,

social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education." So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam

Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then

something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not

even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance. > As a follow-up, I e-mailed

the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national

policy. > Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for

'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not

allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance

coverage while they were on military service. > Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned

corporation. Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET can not support American Veterans, then

why should I and my family support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars

and to have their profits sent to France. Without the American Vets, where would France be

today? Feel free to pass this along to whomever you want.

Sincerely,

Dick Forrey

mp40, I have never even set foot in a Target store. Now I know the reasons; Maybe I just have a 'sixth sense' for cowardice, treason, and French b.o. and b.s.!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Regards, Walter

MP40, if you email me a copy of your letter, I will post it on my web site and make sure everyone in the firearms collection does see it. I've had over 21,000 hits in 2 years so it gets a lot of traffic. Thanks. I won't be going in there again.

Yup, I/ve gotten the same email, but before starting any screaming and hollering, I decided to dig a little deeper. Apparently, this email is not entirely accurate. It also seems that the author of this letter, Mr. Forrey, admits he reacted to Target's denial of funds just a bit too quickly as well.

Thanks for the information Bill in VA!! It is amazing how some things like this develop a life of their own and get blown out of proportion. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif However, please excuse me if I still don't trust the French. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Regards, Walter

No bullets, no gun mags, no shop there is my prefered motus oporandi. Have to make an exception when shping with better half though, most jewery stores don't sell guns. But the clerks carry; so I'm not totaly out of my crowd...
