M1917 Bmg Accessories

Recommended Posts

Hi Browning Machine Gun Board,

Just curious what peolple on the BMG Board think are important accessories to go with an M1917 or M1917A1 BMG with 1917 Tripod to make it complete and accurate.

Also what other accessories & parts would be nice to have for the collection?

I looked on bmgparts.com and there are a number M1917 parts & accessories available.

Are there other sources for M1917 parts & accessories?

Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ammo Box: Oak or Metal?

Steam Condensing Assembly: Can, Hose?

Canvas Covers: MG, Barrel?

Carry Handle: ?

Barrels: .30-06, .308?

Small Parts: Cork Assembly, Water Plug?

Internal Receiver Parts: ?

Thanks in Advance,

Johnny

Hi,

Some neat accy. I have for my gun are :

A/A sight that clamps on water jacket

A/A cradle extension

wooden spare parts box

belt loader

headspace timing tools

spade grips (not original to this gun, but definitely cool!)

all the various tools for this gun

3 different types of water cans (M1917,M1, M1A1)

The centerpiece of my collection is the airborne cart for the gun!

Spare parts are about the same as the air cooled except for the barrel.

There are probably lots more that I missed that maybe someone else can chime in about. Dan

Dan,

Thanks for sharing your accessory list. That is a very nice collection of M1917/M1917A1 accesseories you have.

Did it take you a long time to find & collect all that?

Do you have any idea where I can find a Belt Loader?

Anyway, Thanks for your Input,

Johnny

It took me a few years to find all the stuff I have. Some is very easy to find. Others such as the A/A sight I have only seen about two for sale in the past 10 years. Belt loaders are pretty easy to find but the prices are ridiculous anymore..like 600 bucks. Another cool accy. is flash hiders. I have three different ones. Two are US...one is the beer can shaped one with all the holes in it and the other is a conical shaped one. I also have a british one that is beer can shaped with no holes in the sides. Have fun looking for the stuff, its great when you find that rare piece you were looking for.

Dan,

Thanks for the additional information re: your M1917/M1917A1 BMG accessory collection. I have seen some of the items you have listed up for sale on the NFA boards and on bmgparts.com. I'll continue looking though. That is one very impressive collection you have . Must have been enjoyable collecting all those parts and accessories. Very Nice!

Thanks Again for your Responses,

Johnny
