Recommended Posts

Here is an interesting picture of american officers visiting our Grand Duke Jean

These people had a good taste it seems when they choose their present.

Our Grand Duke Jean, is still alive and has celebrated his 97 year right now in January

Here is his military story

In November 1942, Prince John, Grand Duke Heir of Luxembourg, joined the Irish Guards Regiment as a volunteer and received training as an officer at the Royal Military College in Sandhurst. On July 28, 1943, he was promoted to Lieutenant.

Landed June 11, 1944 near Bayeux, he took part in Operation Overlord and served in Normandy at the headquarters of the 32nd Brigade Guards Armored Divison. Under the uniform of the Irish Guards, Grand Duke Jean participated in the battle of Caen and entered Brussels on September 3, 1944. He was then detached from his unit to join his father, Prince Felix.
