Hasher
Hi All, Trying to find an owner of a Owen who is willing to work with me to make accurate drawings of the Owen. I have access to Trigger group , magazines , Butt and ancillary pieces . Also I have a drawing of the receiver but I am not sure it is 100% accurate. Currently learning Fusion 360 so plan to make this the project for learning a new CAD program. Any help is appreciated !
Babyface Nelson
Hi, Where did you find your "Owen" receiver print ? I have one as well but it may be the same as yours. Spare parts do come up from time to time but they aren't getting cheap. All the best, "Babyface"
Hasher
HI Babyface, Mine I found on the net . Seems correct but I wanted to check with someone who had one. Mostly how the wall is weld in and how the flares on either end are constructed Also the welding around the mag well. My drawing is marked "Owen Mk II Model 1943 Receiver" . Did see some spares during the week on GB. Barrel went for about $100 ,Wooden Butt $50 and bolt assembly about $660. I don't want to own the parts . Would be happy if someone would get their gun scanned with 3D and some high detailed photos. Can import photos but that isn't as accurate. Mike-Tornado Technologies
In the print you have, if the cocking handle slot runs out the end of the receiver, then the print is one that's been floating around for a long time and is not even close to the original. The original factory drawings don't call it a receiver, they will call it the "body". We have pretty well most of the factory drawings for the parts, but we're not willing to share them at this time.
okrana
Wonder if a Sten Mk2 receiver can be used (a la Stenling) to build an Owen?Okrana
Mike-Tornado Technologies
Unfortunately not. They're not even close, completely different outside and inside diameters.
