MisterB
I bought this today from a local collector that acquired it in the 80's. I'm half tempted to remove it and clean it up, but I won't. I have 4 others that are not wrapped, so this one is special due to that, but it's sure tempting. I'm not the kind of guy that kept his action figures in the boxes lol. They got played with and enjoyed. Edited April 16, 2019 by MisterB
Adg105200
Nice find!! I don't think I've ever seen one still in wrap Andrew
MisterB
Nice find!! I don't think I've ever seen one still in wrap AndrewThanks! I've never seen one either. I was starting to wonder if anybody on this forum even cared. Hell, a GI carrying a Thompson, very well could have carried one of these, even though there were smaller bayonets and knives (which I also own). Maybe if I put a picture of it on a coffee mug, more people would show interest lol
TSMGguy
AFH = American Fork and Hoe. The blade should be dated as well. The mummy wrap was not done by the factory, but later. The cosmolene used is hydroscopic. It's good for a few years, but it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and eventually promotes rust. Unless you live in a low humidity area, I'd clean that old cosmo off.

My wallet just can't keep up with my many interests haha. But blades are one thing I also like to collect. Andrew

I'm not in a humid area, and I'll keep it in my climate controlled/humidity controlled safe. I can't see a date on it. Not even on the back side, but there was a period during the war when they stopped putting the date on them

If you have a Garand, M1 Carbine, trench gun (which I do), you almost have to get the correct bayonet, and then the scabbard... Hell, I've bought an incorrect bayonet before, just so I could get the correct scabbard it came with and was incorrectly paired with
