Dave -

There are three versions of the Beretta non-M1 type gas cylinder:

BM59 - Drilled for grenade launcher spindle valve and gas tube accepts bipod

BM69 - Not drilled for spindle valve but accepts bipod

BM62 - Not drilled for spindle valve and won't accept bipod

The greatest difference between an M1 and BM59 gas cylinder is the increase in the distance between the gas tube and barrel centerlines. This added space allows for the spindle valve and results in a straighter op rod. Gas cylinders of both types have the same length.

I'll try to get some measurements.

I wasn't sure if there were 2 or 3 types, but you jogged my memory. I would appreciate the help by getting the measurements - thanks! The Garand gas cylinder just doesn't have the 'look'.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif
