Reising 50 Case Head Separation....

Twice in the last couple of weeks I have had a case head separate on a Reising 50. This is new Aguila ammunition. Is this a gun problem or a ammo problem??? Any idea where I can get a broken shell extractor for .45ACP? The last problem happened after I had completely cleaned the gun and happened on the last round of the second 30 round mag. Thanks for your help!

Don't know if it is gun or ammo problem, but I did have it happen to me once. I just took a .308 case, inserted it neck first into the chamber, tapped it a few times to seat it inside the .45 case, and then took a cleaning rod from the muzzle end, and drove them out. The .308 case basically swedges onto the case.

I'll try that.......

I had the same problem with my M50 --- The solution for me was the firing pin was a bit too long. I noticed that some primer hits were a little too deep and in some cases there was blackness around the dimple indicating the firing pin punctured the primer. I suppose when I got a case head seperation, which didn't happen all of the time, the round may have been a little out-of-battery when it ignitied. Anyway, I shortened the firing pin by grinding off ~ < 1/16 off of the back-end. Get yourself a couple of spares --- www.gunpartscorp.com Also there's a post in this forum that has a good tutorial on some basic perfomance steps where the author has some pictures of how he shortened his firing.

Forgot to add this --- the remainder of the case that was still in the chamber could be easily removed with a dental pick where I scraped it out from the case mouth. Also a down-and-dirty way to remove a stuck case is to find a screw tap that just enters the inside diameter of a spent case where the cutting threads is just enough to cut and grip the stuck case.

I have read that tutorial. I'll read it again and give it a try.

Thanks
