Reising M55

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with M55. I would be able to fire a 30rnd magazine on full auto, then after a fresh mag is inserted and the gun is cocked, either the round won't load or the bolt will not fully clear the round from the magazine.

Thanks

Try loading only 28 rds. Mag spring may be too strong to overcome at 30. Also , what shape is the action spring in ( the one under the bbl.). Old? New factory? Or new wolff ? I think the wolff springs are too strong , except for the action spring , I use thier's on mine.

Thanks for replying. After that incident I replaced the springs with the Spring Replacement kit from Ken Christie and the firing pin with the titanium one from Christie's. It's still not stripping the round from the magazine or it's completely passing right over the magazine. I noticed that the take-down screw on the bottom of the stock was either too lose or too tight. I can never adjust it correctly. Is there a spacer or washer that is missing from my gun?? Oh Yeah, the mags are the 30 rnders from Christie. Thanks....

The only washer on the takedown screw is the one nailed to the stock with two nails. There is no adjustment there , just snug her down. There was no 30 round mags in existance when the gun was made. The 30 rounders are a new development. They are usually ok , but the extra spring tension needed may push a borderline functioning gun " over the edge". Cutting back on the number of rounds will relieve some of the tension. If the gun then runs , you've found the problem. The kits Ken now sells are made by wolff , but he has had them cut back on the strength to factory specs. The old wolff kits had way too strong of springs , giving horrible trigger pulls to overcome thier extra strength. The action spring does not affect trigger pull , and gives a snappier return , so for that reason that is the only spring in the old kits I've used. The rest were NOS factory .'

My point is , the tension on the round may be sucking too much energy from the returning bolt in it's attempt to strip it , that not enough is still available to chamber and lock.

are the pins holding the the mag housing tight? and the mag catch screw also tight

could be a bad mag catch or housing have seen both

do you have any original mags you could try?

mike

Mike,

Sorry I haven't got back to you, I have one original 12 rnd mag, loaded only 10 rounds and seemed to cycle ok. I have not been able to fire it, just cycled it using the cocking handle, finger's tired from cycling it. I also loaded 14 rnds in the 30 rnd mag. It cycled about four rounds then the next round didn't strip from the mag and actually jammed. I still have to go to the range to test it.

Thanks,

Alex

How many mags do you have? It may be a bad mag. How does the 30 rounder "present" the top round to the bolt compared to the 12-rounder ? The lips may be too close together , not allowing the round to ride high enough to be reliabily stripped.

The mags would be the first place I looked. I have several Reisings (M50's&M60's), and each one of them is different. This one likes mag A but not mag B, this only runs with mag C, another one, it doesn't matter. I have one M50 that only runs reliably (consistently) with three out of the twenty magazines I have. Interestingly it only runs with 20 rounders, I have 8-12 rounders, 9-20 rounders, and 3-30 KC mags.
