  1. I must have a 20 rd magazine well then as it has no ribs. Thanks, and good idea - I'll buy the book.
  2. My Reising Model 60 will accept and fire from both 12 and 20 round magazines. However, the 12 rd mag rattles around in the mag well. The 20 rd mag fits the mag well snugly. I suspect the the mag well has been changed in the past to a 20 rd well. I wouldn't know how to tell the two mag wells apart being that I have only ever seen this one. Will a 20 round well accept both mags? Is this common to the 20 rd mag well that the 12 rd magazine works but does not fit as good?
  3. Finally got my Model 60 working again. I had bought a new bolt and had problems getting the bolt to cam up in the receiver to allow the firing pin to be hit by the hammer. Taking the advice of forum members and Mike from Darnall's Gun Works, I attempted to fit the bolt to the gun. I first polished the bolt as well as I could. I then worked at filing the notch in the bolt to fit the lug on the action bar. Finally got the bolt to cam up but then could not work the action bar with a loaded magazine. It would work with an unloaded magazine, however. Ended up replacing the action bar with one I bought from Dealers Showroom. John Bush was the gentleman I talked to there and he suggested trying a new action bar. Luckily for me, the filing I did on the bolt notch was right in line with the lug on the new action bar and now everything is fine. I can't tell that much difference between the two action bar lugs. The old action bar lug was worn somewhat and the bolt actually had to be lifted in the rear to insert the action bar lug in the bolt notch. The new one goes right in place with the lug lifting the bolt as it is inserted. Bottom line is that the action bar lug and bolt notch relationship seem to be critical to normal operation. Going to the range tomorrow to check it out. Thanks to everyone for their input in helping to get this thing fixed.
  4. PaulF - Thanks for the support. Evidently these bolts are not just drop-in replacements as you and others have experienced the same situation. I'm calling a couple of places tomorrow to seek more info and possibly a gunsmith. I'll certainly let the forum know the end result.
  5. Sorry to be so late in my reply to the last three posts. Just saw them a couple days ago and I've been working on that bolt. You are definitely correct that the bolt was not camming up into place in the receiver. I used some JP Weld to repair the broken back part of the notch in the old bolt JUST so I could test the relationship between it and the action bar. The old bolt cams up into place nicely and when the action bar is brought to the rear, the bolt uncams and moves back. The new bolt will fit into the cam area just fine without the action bar in place. However, with the action bar in place, the rear of the action bar has to be wiggled around to get the bolt to cam up. But, when the bolt cams up, it is nearly impossible to bring the action bar rearward without quite a bit of wiggling the rear of the action bar to get the bolt to uncam. I have been polishing on the new bolt but have not yet tried dressing the notch. The polishing seems to have helped a little. I don't really know what I'm doing to say the least but at least thanks to you guys, I'm on the right track. It seems to me its all in the relationship to the mating of the action bar and the notch in the bolt. The lug on the action bar is a little worn but seems to fit well into the notch on the bolt. Something still is off and I haven't figured it out yet. If you see anything in this reply that reveals a direction, etc. let me know. I am thinking of purchasing a new action bar as well. I love this piece and I want desperately to fix it.
  6. Thanks, guys. I'll investgate the firing pin. It worked in the broken bolt but now seems to not work in the new bolt. Maybe it got damaged and I didn't notice it when I built up new bolt.
  7. Went to the range today with a newly acquired Model 60. However, it failed to fire. The firing pin seems to barely hit the primer leaving a mark, but not enough to dent the primer and ignite it. I recently swapped out the bolt because the old one had been broken at some time in the past. Replaced all the springs with Wolff springs as well. Any ideas as to why this thing isn't firing? Appreciate any and all suggestions.
