    Mike,

     

    I got to thinking that maybe you might have been asking about the grip alignment block. I took my stock apart to show all grip mounting parts. The grip alignment block keeps the grip from moving around when it is tightened. The block is made of wood and the dimensions are as follows : 1.320" long / .625" wide / .435" thick.     That is correct there is no spacer between the grip and the stock. You can see a flash line there where they cast the plastic grip,this gives the illusion that there is a spacer. I also have a folding stocked M1A Springfield that has the reddish brown plastic grip it has the same flash/casting line on it also ( This folder is the original, exactly like the ones Andy has for sale on GB except came from Springfield in 1989 ). There are some pictures of this rifle already posted on this board, look on page #4 / 10th post down by "Sapper", I bought his rifle when he was having problems. If those pics are not what you need to see please advise and I will try for some others. Best, BOB

    I have an E2 stock with black plastic grip, inside under sliding grip cover is black also. It looks just like a Nigerian stock but no provision for the carry handle on upper handguard. I can open and close trigger group with grip in place and grip has no spacer inside. This configuration is on a select fire, 2 digit serial number rifle, barrel date 1964. Best, BOB

    I am interested in purchasing some new condition, chrome steel follower BM59 mags.

    If you look back in the earlier posts of SAPPER, I purchased his BM-59. I will disassemble it completely this weekend. One thing though, I pushed the gas cylinder forward and noticed that the cyl. plug could be unscrewed with my fingers, so that might be some of the feeding problem he said he had. He mentioned that this gun likes to " Shoot itself loose ". The front sight slides back and forth, the rear mag catch pin is halfway sticking out, the rear sight is real loose etc. May be that it is like a Harley and you need to use Blue Locktite on certain things. He mentioned the two piece Op rod guide and another S.O.T. told me that when he had a BM-59 that his Op rod guide was one piece so that is why I was wondering about the two piece unit, looks ok with a small amount of spalling on the "Head ". Will keep you posted on the continuing saga. Best Regards BOB

    Lyman Rear Sight, Finned BBL, Vertical Foregrip.

    No more info avail. at this time.

     

    By the way I have ordered Franks book over a week ago but mail to Alaska is real slow , still waiting to have this info in hand but appreciate help on this one till book arrives.

  12. Pre 86 Ds M1a1

    Thinking of obtaining an advertised pre 86 M1A1 . It is marked BRIDGEPORT CONN USA on the right side receiver. THOMPSON SUBMACHINEGUN caliber .45 M1A1 on the left side. It is also marked RIA / FK ( Rock Island Armory / Frank K the foreman) telling me that this is an arsenal redo. Also marked GeG in a circle ( Civilian inspector GOLL for Auto Ordnance ) What is described as a flaming bomb over the FK ( Probably crossed cannons ) and an F stamped under the forearm. All this is pretty straightforward but it is not marked U.S.PROPERTY behind the sight or anywhere, this has me somewhat puzzled. Serial # unknown.

    Any ideas of why this is not marked U.S. PROPERTY ? Thanks for your time.
