    It was still a great time yesterday, despite the long wait to get in. I wish I had waited earlier in the T-shirt line that went out the door, and outside the pole barn. When I got within about 25 people left in line, they ran out of the shirts, except for size medium. I guess I have enough Knob Creek shirts already, though they were talking about getting more after today, so maybe mail order will be an option.

     

    It was great to see many friends there, though I heard some other friends were there that I never ran into, because it was so crowded. Marks Feed Store was wonderful, as usual, and it was great to see Phil there for his first time.

     

    Here are some photos taken yesterday. Tom, thanks again for driving. Weve been to many Creeks together, and hopefully there may be another chapter to this story someday.

    I have sheer jealousy over how many free and unmasked people there are walking around almost more than not being able to be there for the show... It must be nice to live somewhere without a tin pot dicktater trying to control everything...

    I bet you drove through my town when you visited or left crater lake. Redmond, Or on 97. Did you guys drive North on 97, and go through Shaniko, Grass Valley, Moro and Sherman down to Rufus and then onto I-84 driving through the Gorge?

    Nope. We live in Oregon City so we went I5 to Roseburg and 138 to get to Crater. We left out the south end to 395 to get to Twin Falls. I do like Redmond but don't get there often anymore.

    That's an awesome trip.

    Did you do the Cody night rodeo? Best show in town!

    They have some interesting stuff at the museum, but I have not been there since the recent remodel? Gotta stop one of these days and see what's new. I was in Deadwood, Rushmore, and Crazy horse in Oct. and wow was it packed since it was only a handful of free states.

    I'll have to stop and check out that range, maybe shoot the Gatling since I'm too lazy to take mine out and then clean it when done.

    We didn't make it to the rodeo if it was even going on. Sounds like something we'll have to see when we get back there!

    Recently my Wife and I took a 10 day 3500 mile road trip for our 20th anniversary. We went to 8 different national parks and monuments amongst other sights natural and man made. One of the real cool take aways was our day and a half spent in Cody Wyoming. We went to the Cody Firearms Experience and shot full-auto 1928 Thompsons. I don't remember who he said the upper manufacturer was (they are newly made for them) but the rest of the guns are from the Russian parts kits that they acquired. It was a great experience at that!!! I have had my 1927A1 Kahr since 2011 and been a member her since 2013. I have made over 100 loaders for members along with about 50 display stands of various sorts. However, I have not had the pleasure of a real Full-Auto of any kind much less a Thompson until now. I'M HOOKED!!!

     

    Also saw some very interesting Thompson's at the Buffalo Bill Firearm Museum. The 1921 was a NYC bank robbery recovery. The other is a .30 carbine Ruger Thompson??

  12. Need Replacement Leaf Sight

    The WH use the same as the newer Kahr's. I used my Kahr base and bought a Lyman ladder for it from Numrich Arms. There is a little modding needed to the spring plunger because the detents are a little different. But if you have any filing and sanding skills it's easily done. The Lyman ladder is MUCH better.

    I might look at doing the Lyman ladder mod. I'll check with Numrich to see if they still have some ladders. Mind giving any info on the mod you did? Thanks.

    The first one pictured in O.D. with military style stenciling, is to me, the best, simple, and very fitting for a WWII Thompson. The stand the weapon is on should not upstage the weapon itself, only complement it IMHO. My complements to the talent and workmanship.

    I have one of the mag loaders in maple.

    Thanks for the compliments. The OD stand is destined to have a M1 sitting on it. The owner wanted a military theme for it so I came up with a replica "crate lid" The paint is actually a match I had done from a real WWII Crate.

    When I did my Green Mt Barrel I put my Thompsons barrel into a vise between to cedar blocks with some rosin powder for added grip. When you crush down on the barrel it presses into the cedar without hurting the metal parts. Used an old Hyde belt to protect the receiver nose from the pipe wrench. Worked like a dream. I also did the modification to the grip hanger for removal before the barrel so any future removal would be much easier.

    I used IOSSO case cleaner on my parked Thompson and have used it to strip blued items as well. It is reusable and non-damaging. Just submerge the part for 5 minutes or so and when you pull it out use a fine wire brush, scotch Brite or 0000-steel wool to coerce any remaining finish off.
