USCS
Looks to be having ejection issues. The spent cartridges either smokestack, or catch horizontally between receiver ring and bolt or bolt carrier. Happens with both 15 and 30 round mags. What do I need to check? heavy artillery
What have you tried already to remedy the problem? I'd start with your bolt assembly and checking the related components (ejector, ejector spring, extractor, plunger, extractor spring).
USCS
I’ve switched out the mainspring, and been through 4-5 mags, both 15s and 30s. I’ll switch out the bolts and see what I get.
DINK
You can also check the gas piston under the barrel. Hold the rifle muzzle up and push the piston up. If it doesn't fall back down just under gravity, it needs cleaning. Also check the nut that holds it to make sure it hasn't backed out. There's a specialized wrench just made for them if you can find one. Check for damage inside the "pocket" of the slide where the lug on the bolt sits. Some of the Plainfield parts are made from softer steel and they get distorted until the lug doesn't pivot smoothly. This binds up the action and can cause short-stroking. Replacing the slide if the only cure, unfortunately.
