DukeNukem
How many m1/m1a1 owners here prefer the m1a1 bolt over the moving firing pin in the m1 bolt?
Bob
I prefer the sand cut M1 bolt (the best for speed), then M1 standard bolt then the M1A1 bolt in that order. FWIW
buzz
I have both, there's not much difference really. Currently I have the M1 bolt in the gun. The M1 bolt seems to run faster. My M1A1 has a very slick action, the bolt slides very smoothly and it runs fast, about the same as an M16 Edited June 7, 2017 by buzz
giantpanda4
As a left handed shooter - my choice is obvious - the M1!

giantpanda4
Out of battery is possible with a M1A1 - been discussed before here.
buzz
I'm very conservative with gun safety, and the out-of-battery possibility does not concern me very much. Most SMGs have a fixed firing pin, yet OOB discharges seem very rare. Can you think of anyone who damaged an UZI or Thompson, etc with an OOB? giantpanda4
Damage to the gun is one thing. Fixable.Damage to the shooter is another.Yes, there have been out of battery incidents with a M1A1.All there is to say - just shoulder it in a LH fashion, and look at right into the breech at that cartridge that could go off in your face....
