  1. Sorry to hear that bad news, great loss to the Thompson clan :-(
  2. Yes, it is running a can. The adapter is long and goes the length of the flash hider.
  3. I have the kit and used it in both the M1 and 1928. Never have had any issues. Use cheap CCI Blazer I bought a bunch of cases years ago and that stash will last me the rest of my life :-)
  4. This guy doesn't appear to have much trouble keeping it in the general area of the target :-)
  5. I did see a lot of ACE's and 38 super, but have those. Need a 9 to round out my shooters. Agreed, the day of the 29's for 200 bucks be long gone... A couple months ago bought a Nickle 8 3/8's for 600, he was happy and it made my day. Glad to have been around in the golden days when one could mail order stuff and have it delivered to the house :-) Now it's just sad, kind of like the collector car stuff. Kids now days living in mom's basement get their driving experience via video games. Will never break a u-joint, blow a clutch, or push a rod out the bottom of the pan. Doomed I tell ya we is!
  6. Good show but...lots of "wife wants me to sell my guns" type thing. Yes dear the 1911 is for sale...5 grand. Went looking for a couple things but couldn't find a deal on a M2HB. The guys this weekend think a plate gun is worth 35k, not in my world. I had to LOL at one table, I know the guy that was selling SRTA barrels for $550. Chuckled when he said "the govt paid 3500 for these things". I said not much of a deal when the ammo sold out years ago, I still have a couple k of the stuff rat holed with a barrel :-) Went through every building and could not fine one series 70 Gold Cup, blue in 9mm. Some day maybe. Lots of S&W M29's if you wanted to spend $1500 or more. Found a really nice M50 police model with an intact compensator, with a ton of spares and mags for under 6k, that was the best deal I saw but passed cause I went there looking for only two pieces I need :-)
  7. This is what I get on my postal scale. All are "S" bolts top to bottom, "sand cut", "sand cut" bright, M1A1, M1.
  8. As in the title I collected the parts from a cut gun years ago to build into a post sample, then saved for spares for my other Thompson. Now I've lost interest and ready to turn it over to the next care taker. Thanks for the interest everyone, it is pending sold. Have a great week!
  9. Thanks Jon! Just got my Walnut loader, piece of art :-) Now I can load twice as fast with a maple and a walnut LOL!
  10. I can't remember either, but he did the mod for me. Have the kit for the M1 and 1928 and the extended adapters for a can. Will keep my kit until the end of times :-)
  11. My Colt was purchased Feb 6th 1933 and it has the JHB stamp. It's in the 68 hundred serial number range.
  12. Unfortunately original 1928 actuators ears break as well. While cleaning out piles of junk in the shop I found one and remembered the day it broke. Normal mag dump and something went flying past my face. Looked down and saw one of the ears missing. I set the damn thing down last night (and now can't remember where I put it) to take a picture of it... Gettin old ain't for pussies!
  13. I had one that was in there really good and it was staked as well. Bob was able to get it off and install a new barrel. My wrench just laughed at it. Good luck with the swap.
  14. Really inventive write up. "possible replacement for the one that John Dillinger stole" https://www.gunbroker.com/item/801523922
  15. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/157826605/robert-kenneth-preston Never did much after is 15 min of glory...
  16. Yup, two people fighting for the same kit was fun to watch. Guess the bar has been raised as not many good Colt kits are out there, or rather when one gets pried loose from a collectors stash. Be interesting to see what the next one goes for.
  17. Wow, and I was looking to justify selling my extra kit for 10k. Guess I better re-think this :-) $11,025...wow!
  18. Bob, he may be shooting it like a target rifle. If so waiting for the break and reset the sear will drag on the bolt and slow it down. Have seen it at the shoots. Person shoots a few, jams, I try it and the mag goes empty. Might ask him if he pulls the trigger on and off with vigor. Good luck.
  19. That's too bad you guys don't have a "Class III" License. They are not hard to get
  20. Happy New Year! Mine is starting out pretty nicely...just sold my boat :-)
  21. I don't believe he was dispatched with a Thompson. The picture I saw of him on the slab appeared to show him shot through the lungs from the left side of the chest about mid bicep area with a possible exit to the right side as being indicated by people present in the video. His front chest and abdomen appeared to be hole free, where we would assume someone with a machinegun would stitch up a bad man laying on the ground, he would be a mess.
  22. Back in the day mom was a model for a local department store. They made the scenes like popular pinup pictures. LOL Gene Mom
  23. Early 28N's had the two piece, later one piece. Look it over for a mfg stamp. Since the one piece drawing is dated Jan 19th 1935, would assume guns converted or delivered after that date would be a factory 1 piece.
