    The bolt I have with a parts set has multiple serial numbers etched into it, but not 1002, sorry.

    Just to add fuel to the fire, early MP40 (from parts kit) marked MP38 style. Five digits on side of lower, matching bolt has four digits with letter 'b'.

    Yes, there is a visible bulge near the top of the rear grip strap. Must have been dropped, as speculated.
