Hi There, I got a TNW 1919 in .308 like 3 years ago. never fired 308 in it, as I converted it to 3006 about a week later. From what I can tell it is made up from all Saginaw, Buffalo arms parts, and RIA barrel and extracter (cept RHSP). No hint of isrealie 7.62 anywhere on it. Now it never fed from cloth belts, but fed perfectly from metal links. I contributed it to tnw 308 guns are sold without the 3006 front stop, so I just used metal links. I finally found a front stop and installed it, and tried it out. but the gun still wont extract rounds from the cloth belt. Any ideas???

That is a puzzler. Go over to www.1919a4.com and read the info there. Do a search on feeding problems. The 1919 is the most reliable MG series ever made , but one little part out of spec can drive you nuts till you find it. If it's feeding the belt fine but not pulling the rounds , I'd look at the long flat spring in the top cover and see if it's not a little weak.Are you running USGI belts? New or used? How does the pull weight compare to the links?Does having someone gently pull on the belt while firing help or no?Gun feeding from the ground or box on tripod ( belt lift) ? How strong is the spring under the belt holding pawl? Can you push the pawl down easily?
It's prob'ly something simple , but only change one thing at a time and test.

Embalmer - did you get this solved? Did you get the rear cartridge guide as well? I've run mine in 308 and 30-06 with no problems.

Seeing this again brings up a couple of points that may help. Are you running a trunion protector for the links ? Remove it for belts , you don't need it and it cuts down on the breathing room. Two , use a 30-06 short round stop on your cartrige stop , it helps hold 30-06 in place and smooths out the feeding a lot by holding the front end down by the case neck area.
