  1. I see a member that goes by "BuffaloJones" is online right now. Are you familiar with Charles Jesse "Buffalo" Jones? Quite an interesting character! My Dad's Mom's maiden name was Ruby Jones and Charles was her great, great uncle or something like that. I have it a family tree book but I don't remember off the top of my head. Very interested if you know anything about him. Thanks, Darin Reiss
  2. Sgt, I don't know about the slots. I will probably leave as is. My Dad will probably like the slot because he can shoot his 50 drums in it! I doubt I will do anything. If they were welded back then the parkerizing would show it. Du-Lite might be able to hide it (I am not familiar with the Du-Lite process, but I do manganese phosphating) but Parking won't. Thanks, Darin
  3. Here is the pic: http://www.hunt101.com/img/180447.jpg Do you like the green furniture? It came from Rock River Arms. When I took it out the box, I didn't like it, but after I assembled it, I like it. Plus, there is not mistaking it for any of my other M16's. Darin
  4. v188, Do you mean Dave Hineline in South Sioux City, NE? Did I sell you a NIW SWD registered lightning link? I sold one to my old neighbor in South Dakota (when I used to live in God's country) and he has run SEVERAL thousand rounds through it with the SWD RLL. It hasn't missed a beat I redid the AR-47 tonight with a DPMS Lo-Pro upper receiver. Milling the magwell opening for the AK-47 mag was much easier with the thicker upper receiver walls. The AR-47 lower required considerable gunsmithing to make work. I bought a stripped lower from Michael's Machines and built it up from there. The upper is a Model 1 sales 7.62 x 39 11.5". I had to send the barrel back as the chamber was undercut and it wouldn't function. I am going to the Wyandotte, OK shoot tomorrow. Tom Hoel is stopping by on his way to it from Golden, CO. We will caravan from here. I have Dave Hineline's space along with Chad McCumbers from Lincoln, NE. Dave has to go to Munich, Germany for training so we will use his space. I will be bringing the AR-47. Hopefully it will work, I didn't have a chance to test fire it tonight. Now that I live in town, I can't shoot guns (little lone machineguns) off the porch anymore! I will take a pic of the AR-47 and post it here as soon as I can upload the pic to hunt101. Thanks, Darin
  5. Here is a pic of the new M1 Thompson. Ain't she purdy??? http://www.hunt101.com/img/180087.JPG Thanks, Darin
  6. Guys, Thanks, this gun will be fun. Researching it may be the best part. ;-) Thanks, Darin
  7. Hawksnest, Great idea, I hadn't thought of that. He said that Dan Shea had two of them that were identical and the other one went to Denny Fouche in N Kansas City. I will call him also and see what he remembers. Thanks, Darin
  8. TNKen, Yes, I got it. The gun is in GREAT shape, I just wish it didn't have the slots cut for the drum. Oh well, the price was right considering what I have seen several sell for lately. Darin
  9. It sold last night about 10:15 central time :-)
  10. Ron, I don't mind the shot out barrel because I bring a 1928A1 and a M1A1 to the Rocky Mountain Fifty Caliber and Machine Gun shoot and Kearney, NE (If it still goes) and the oklahomafullauto.com shoots as rental guns. I just want a good enough deal to justify the work needed to bring it up. Did you notice any dents in the metal? Thanks alot for the information! Darin
  11. Ron, Yes, it is the one that CMMG has. Have you by chance seen the gun in person? Thanks, Darin
  12. I am looking at an old Pre Sample M1A1 Savage that has a DEFINITE brown patina to it. The steel looks good and with no pitting, at least I can't see any in the pictures. I thought if I bought it that I would manganese phosphate it myself as I have done other SMG's but I believe the correct finish for WWII for these is Du-Lite. I have a Savage 1928A1 and M1A1 already that have the Du-Lite finish. Any thoughts on how these two finishes compare would be appreciated! I understand from Tom Hoel that PK in CO can do original Du-Lite refinishing. Thanks, Darin Reiss DR MFG Haysville, KS FFL 07/SOT
