Try a few drums. We tried a dozen initially. About half worked right off the bat. Offed the rest to the next guy to try in his. (That's probably why you see multiple serial numbers on the drum covers)

There have been long lines in front of California gun stores since March. Same story played out again and again. High prices, huge shortages, safety cards, 10 day waits, background checks. . . a great educational opportunity for the first time buyer.
Plus all the gun shows are cancelled. . . you cant even use the non-existent loophole!

Still available.

As someone who has had to chase the mags and parts, there is a real added value in having all that in one package. Sounds more in the $8K range to me.

Managed to get in under the wire I think. . .

Hey Jim, I'm the caretaker of one of those Cleveland issued police guns. Neat piece.

I know of a NIB Colt marked semi version for a whole lot less.
I inquired with OOW last year regarding doing some BAR gunsmithing and they said they were taking in no such work. They were concentrating all their resourced on DOD contracts.

Nice work--really looks great!

+1 for Apex on line ordering. Been doing a fair amount of business with Apex lately and all has gone well. The rare parts kit I recently purchased from them was extremely well packaged -- Much appreciated!

I just don't know that notching around the trigger guard gains you much structural support. And by the time you shorten and reprofile a Thompson hanger, for me it's just quicker to make one from scratch. I think Dan Block built a full auto version recently. He might have insight on hanger design.
The ones I'm familiar with have the hanger secured to the frame in front of the trigger guard--either with solid steel rivets or spot welds through the hanger.
-
My suggestion would be to make your own grip hanger out of bar stock and add a threaded screw boss. Then it'll fit your frame perfectly.
Welding (and any warping) will be a reflection of the skills of the welder, and what type of weld is used. If I were welding the hanger on I'd go TIG, in the form of spot welds through holes in the hanger.
Just my .02 cents -- Sandy and I dinked around with these a bit.

Fascinating. I've never seen live-fire footage of one.

The blued guns weren't all a high polish either. I've seen a few that I believe still have their original finish and it's almost a matte blue (I wouldn't call it a polish under the blue).

Congratulations on your purchase. I've been acquiring LEA -marked '94's when I come across them. A reliable weapon that served throughout the 20th century.

I've seen different descriptions of what parts were used on the originals, and from what guns (and aircraft) they were sourced. There seems to be some disagreement on various components. Being as they were assembled outside of normal channels, I can understand that. Anyway, I'll be interested to follow your progress.

Please keep us posted on the progress of your Stinger build.

Mine was also supplied with a shoulder stock and is papered as an SBS, (C&R) and not AOW. I'd like to find an original pistol grip.

SPF, thanks.

I have a new old stock Doug Richardson 1928 80% receiver for sale. Doug made a number of different variations and I do not know the catalog name of this version. It is new, and has never been further machined or had parts fitted to it. $950 plus shipping.
Certified payment, not interested in trades. More photos available. Thanks to David for allowing this post.

I do OK with either one. I just use the front sight, and not the peep. Oh yeah, tracers help too. . .
