I'm sure Sandy would have had alot to say about the cars. . .

All encompassing in-depth discussion, analysis, euphoria, optimism and FUD being flung is all directions regarding this ruling on every section of the calguns forum.

Sorry Jim, I got started on other projects and never circled back to it. In reviewing my notes, it appears an FAL spring would be the most available and easiest starting point. As I recall, they are long as-is compared to the 1919 BAR spring.

OCM and I had a discussion about the topic when the gun in question was being sold. As I recall, he had never uncovered any evidence of the gang using Thompsons.

A friend of mine purchased 3 of them from the manufacturer several years ago. Had to wait quite a while to get them, but they all ran fine right out of the box and always have. I suspect that might be the exception. I agree with Sandman-- if you can get it for a deal, maybe.

I've spent so much time looking for Monitor parts it never dawned on me there were accessories. . .
-
. . . they made a belt for the Monitor??

Anybody have a link to what theaters it will be show in its limited release on the 15th?

One on ebay right now if you're still looking.

As the running joke here goes--the 6 (or maybe it's up to 8) of us into these rifles appreciate the heads-up!

Assisted a friend with an estate transfer recently. Paper forms, 6 weeks time.

Probably sacrilege, but I dig the winter camouflage paint. . .

Most Reising owners are happy to have one that runs reliably at any speed. . .

If it were me, I'd leave it as-is. Unless you're very good with wood, the "splice" will show, and be more of a detriment than an addition to the presentation of the piece. Consider the missing wood "historic patina" and enjoy it as found.

I have 3 of the drums from Taiwan and they run perfectly--best money I ever spent.

Saw one at the SARS yesterday @ $1500

I have a blued former PD Reising and for what it's worth the selector switch on mine has that same blotchy purple/blue discoloration as the one on 7781.
-
There's been 1 or 2 at the SARS show the past couple of years. Expensive but there.

I knew I had seen that grip profile before but couldn't place it. After some research I believe it is from a Polish Browning FN WZ 28.
Rare for sure, but not an R75/80.

Ok Jim, here's what I've got:
Existing (weak) spring: 11.5 in. long, .422 dia. coils and thickness of wire .045. Total of 60 coils
Then I found another one from a Colt buffer in the bottom of the parts box that I didn't remember I had:
13" long, .428 dia. and .045 wire thickness (66 coils) This spring is much stronger than the weak one and I'm going to try using it until a suitable replacement is found.
Only other thing I had close was the outer recoil spring for an FAL : .410 dia. and .042 wire with plenty of length.
Now that I know what we're basically looking for, I'll hunt the greasy parts bins at the SARS show and see what I can find.

Thanks Jim, I'll check the measurements of mine and report.

Anybody know of a source (or suitable substitute) for the 1919/R75/R80 Colt BAR recoil spring? I thought it might be the same as the 1918/A2 but it is clearly not.
I have one but it seems pretty weak. Thanks.

Very nice. I've had my eye out for a decent Model 10 riot for awhile now. Missed a "bankers association" marked one years ago and have been kicking myself ever since.
Got my first Model 8

I appreciate my Rem. 8 in .35, but it's a shoulder buster. The 81, not so much.
