Dimensions Metal Spare Parts Box
bnew replied to casper's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
Original box was 5/16 yellow pine which was tongue and grooved. The lip was a one piece of steel which was placed on top lid. The bottom was beveled so the steel would not hit and to give it a better seal. That is what is on my original box -
Do you have to go through the transfer tax? If you don't what happens to dealer samples?
-
Since the Thompson is now considered a C&R, how does it work? Do you still have to take a form 4 though a Class 2or 3 dealer. Or can it be done directly to the C&R license? Thanks

Dan did a complete conversion for me also, Excellent job, Used a Omega parts kit on to a Kahr SBR. had the whole gun reblued to match, except the bolt was nickeled. His wood is outstanding, And he is a gereat person to talk to and do business with.

Newbie Looking To Purchase A Colt Thompson In 2011
bnew replied to repins05's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
That is Ron's gun shop in Oshkosh WI. ( owner is Paul Leopold) Did a Winchester saddle ring for me a few years back. Needed wood and refinish. Did a great job. Wait for quality is as expected 6-7 months. He was also contrated by Colt to finish their WWI 1911 reissue. -
Has any one every used it ?

I have a chance to buy a mint Savage early acturator and complete Savage bolt. The bolt is blue and all the parts are Savage. Both are mint. What would be a good price to offer the person without insulting him? Thanks, Bill

Sorry for the wrong typing. The purchser was correct and the Savokinas was not. By the way i live in that county. Bill

Old post. I saw the gun Savokinas sold and nothing was done improper. I know the current owner. Wilkes-Barre does have 2 Thompsons. One looks like it was engraved with a nail . Both can't be transfered. They where never put on the proper paperwork years ago. I saw both about 10 years ago and I know they still have them. Both of these guns are in Roger Cox's first book way back when. bnew

Bob you can use my pictures. You already know the story Bill
-
Bob has looked at pictures of my case. He posted the link to photo bucket for me. He said it is an extremely nice original. Read the original story on how I got this case. My grandfather never had a Thompson. Like I said he was just a pack rat. I have no intentions of selling this case, so there is no need for me to prove that it is original. Like stated these where made 70 some years ago. Who knows what they used or when the companies ran out of material

I am trying my darnest to post pictures. PLEASE do not ask me to sell it . It is very sentimental. I do have a alot of Grandfather/Minor stuff.Walter PP. How about an un proofeded from the line at the end of the war No proof makes. To me all my WWII stuff will be given to my son. I will be happy to share with members but I am not selling it or the case. Also I am redoing a Auto Ordinance 1927 semi .shoet barrel. With the help of a very good gun smith. We meet by chance(though this board) and I belive we made a great connection. Sent him a parts kit unsean and we are working a trade to what he masters in. gun people stick together Thanks, Bill

Ow! Ow! Ow! OW! :butt:

You are right with the fit of the spare parts kit. It fits very tight side to side .But when you try to pull the leather over to sap it in ,you have to pull it tight. Then when you try to close it. it hits the top of the drum. The snap does. I will post pictures as soon as I figure how to do it. Nothing will show the detail that was in the case. Grand father was going to break it up and burn it

Many years ago my grandfather was a minor for the Alden coal Co. PA ,They had gotten Thompsons (for rebellion, which they did not need) Back to the case . He was a friend to the person that recievded all that came in. They did not need the Thompsons . so they sent them to the home company. Now they had a few of the cases . Being the pack rat my grand father was ,he took one of the cases .He had a case that sat in the back of his closet for many years Enter Me I have a mint police case from the 30 or 40's Also I had a 1922/28navy I never put it in the case Sold it ;the gun .Now getting older I am now redoning a 1927 which I will put into the case never has had a gun in it only thing it had was a cleaning rod. no spare parts kit.Interesting Case . Very dark purple. You can see this is something that was not just thown together. I just got a spare parts box from G.H. (worth the cost) I had also 4 repeat mags XX and a no number drum.I had 2 and sold 1 with the gun. Which my grandfather kept a gun and got it registered. Unfortially he said they sent them all back...... But they would have (GIVEN yes given for free ,TO THE MINORS) what an intersteriing story. thanks for readig if you want pictures of f my case case let know bill
