  7. what would a matching colt 1921 parts set be worth i thought about taking it in trade for bulldozing work
  8. belive it or not but my mothers aunt ann used to work in the same hotel buliding where bugs moran stayed and operated his business back in the good ol days when i was a little boy i used to have to run erons for her grocerys etc. she was unable to get around she gave me all kinds cool of things from the 20's and 30's like hats, jewerly, news papers tiger strip pens, antiques 1933 worlds fair stuff victrola with a least 1000 records the list goes on there was no one else to take care of her she never thru anything away i liked to listen to her old stories from chi-town have you ever heard (chick in the car and the car wont go) thats how you spell Chicago
  9. i have not filled out a form 1 yet so i can have a ( real )short barrel for my 1927a1 but i will be doing it soon i live in a town of just 3000 people we have 5 cops a few of them are part-timers and the chief is a women. i own and operate my earthmoving company there also but as you know little towns operate funny sometimes. if i had to make a bet with someone if the chief will sign off on my form 1 i would bet no. i have a clean record maybe a few traffic (speeding) tickets in the past 10 years .they probably will think that no citizens in their town needs to own something like this. what does one do if this happens ? go to the state police and ask them? i have alot of friends there what can my incorporated business do for me?
  10. well as of right now my barrel is legal 16" thanks for that info, Damon read jim bardwells laws and opinions page letter#40 and you will see that all i have done is made a legal barrel extention set up out of a crappy old barrel at least it has the correct finns and with a 2" longer stock the remaining nipple or call it a steel rod in front of the compensator is not as ugly as some other blank firing adapters like a military one for a carbine. my carbines barrel is tapped with a plug some garand guys use a long version thats maybe 1/2 shorter than mine they also have a nice looking short version for the garand any way a 16" 27a1 barrel with cutts on has a total length of about 18.25" from chamber end to tip of compensator. my barrel is 14.5" from chamber end to tip of compensator add another 1.5" for the nipple in front i could loose the nipple if i silver soldered my 22. cal conversion barrel insert into the chamber it sticks out about the same length but at the other end and the 22.cal bolt is shorter making the barrel sit deeper into the gun i tried out my 22.cal conversion once in my 16" barrel using 22. long blanks with crimped ends and it cycled fine they were loud for a 22 and had a good flash
  11. thanks sturmgewehr, sorry they are dark i dug out my stuff again and sent you a couple more last night just wondering if you got them? I made this 1927a1 for reenacting wwii it fires blanks. optional for not having a SBR eliminating the look of the not allowed 16"ugly stick. it is an old savage barrel that i think was in a dewat at one time 1/4 of the chamber threads have been removed it is split open on the fist 5 cooling rings you cant see it when its assembled the rifleings have been removed i cut it in two just behind the cutts and drove a 1/4" steel pipe rod down the old barrel stopping in the middle of the cooling rings welded it up to a total length of 16" then added 2.5" length piece to the old barrel welded that piece at both end which means the inside rod is welded twice then i welded the cutts threaded end of the old savage to it. and cleaned it up in the lath. I took it to couple of gun makers and the state police firing range and had 4 ILLINOIS STATE TROOPERS that i know look at it. sometimes atf people are there but none were that day they all said the barrel is just a junked out welded up demilled barrel incapable of shooting a projectile and that i could have it shorter because it is so screwed up that it can never be made to work again and that i would not have to have it registered as a SBR one officers is in charge of all the weapons ,repairs, amunition. i told them what my intentions were and that i was going out of state to a wwii reenactment they said i would be ok its a just shoots blanks i would like some feed back please and, thank you again right now its legal length installed with bolt forward sticking a rod down it it measures 16.25"
  12. mr. sturmgewehr if you dont see any pictures then i still must being doing something wrong it wont let. me i hit the img then typed the link you gave me and clicked ok and then add reply but it does not seem to be working
  13. ok i will i got shot up by a real german full auto sturmgewehr but it did not kill me (it was firing blanks) I must have taken out at least 20 jerrys with my m1 carbine i got caught in a pocket out numbered at the battle of the bulge had a fun time got to see alot of real machine guns in action and alot of cool wwii artillary,jeeps,trucks,motorcycles-sidecars.
  14. need help getting my thompson photos on here
  15. I was reading some old messages what is a sfab gun
  16. can you help me out i have to send them to my computer then forward them to ?
  17. This is a substitute for one that cannot have a SBR. It was made for reenacting eliminating the long ugly not acceptable 16" barrel. I like the quick change idea too and Im going to try and get acceptance for a real 10.5" Barrel wish me luck and if i do there no way i will drill the end out and tap it i will just have this one shortened by the way this is an old savage barrel with the correct looking finns. Remember I built a 2" longer walnut stock even has an s stamped in the end of it here is an example if you had 10.5" barrel with compensator next to my barrel and compensator mine is almost one full length compensator longer then there is a 1.25"x 3/8" nipple or end of the barrel left over kind of like a toy gun with a red tip mine is not red left it metal but over all length is 16" this is well built and will not explode it is safer than a tapped barrel with plug i have ran 100+ round thru it this in other words if you had a 1927-a5 13" barrel and inserted this steel pipe in to the barrel leaving 3" out weld it up then slide on your cutts and thread it on add a 10" horizontal stock all you are doing is adding barrel length with out messing up your cutts. let me know what your thoughts are Damon
  18. yes it is a 1980 west hurly 1927a1 semi auto it fires 45acp blanks and works great I have joe swanson blanks that are pretty hot my semi auto 16" blank firing barrel set up kicks harder than my regular 16" ugly stick and there is twice as much flash i want to try to get a short barrel registration hope my local police chief will sign off Ill. is tough the governer is now talking pre ban for Ill. I was wondering if i could shorten up this contraption beings it could never be able shoot a projectile I was hoping i could catch an atf person at the state police firing range they are there from time to time along with many others I live 1 mile from the range and do alot of contracting work there im an earthmover o' yea They have a colt 1921 thompson if they take it offsite they have to cut it up
  19. Im a wwii reenactor this is a blank firing barrel set up. I was given a junked out 1928 thompson barrel that has had 1/4 of the threaded chamber cut out-removed. It was bent a little and split open on the first five cooling fins and it has been cut in two, just behind the compensator threads then a 1/4" steel rod has been stuffed halfway though the barrel then tig welded. next a 2" long steel pipe installed sliding it over the 1/4" pipe and it was welded to the original barrel and also to the 1/4" pipe at other end. Finally the threaded piece for the cutts was slid into place and welded and then it was turned in a lath to clean up the welds leaving it a little rough to tell that it was cut and welded. Total lenght 16" legal. Screw a compensator on and you have a 1." nipple left in front. Made a new walnut stock thats 10" instead of 8" add 2" length to the rear I took this set up to two local gun makers they said its a junk demilled barrel and not capable of firing a projectile.I was going to an out of state reenactment i wanted to be legal, ILL. does not allow SBR this looks like the real thing to a naked eye. Then I took it out to the Ill. state police firing range and had 4 master troopers check it out and they said its just a junked out demilled barrel also and that it could not shoot a projectile and that I will be fine. They also said it could be shorter please give me some feed back on this it works great and I took with me and everone was amazed
